You have to take into account that kiwami is just the first story, and theres not much to expand on it either, yakuza 2 is generally considered as having the best story, and kiwami 2 is looking to have some real upgrades and expansions to the OG yakuza 2

Shinada had the best chapter alongside Kiryu in Y5, and i really like him personality wise, but i don't want to see him back in the games to ruin his good comfy poverty life

Before 0, IMO, 2 has the best story of all the Yakuza. For me, those two are head to head to be my favorites of the series, so it might do you good to check that out OP.
