You did better than I did, I got a 1060 6gb when I built my new PC last year
It's definitely a step up from my old PC, and I can run everything I want to, but I feel like I should have gotten an 1070 before the price hike
>>
>>389708618

'I was gonna buy the 1070, but bought a 1060 6 gigabyte instead since I have no intention of upgrading my monitor to 4k anytime soon. Plus it was 200 bucks cheaper.

Just overkill for what I need.

I have a 1050 Ti. Frankly, I'm surprised it could handle Destiny 2 at 1080p/60fps. I have a 1440 monitor though.

MSI Gtx 1080 Gaming X. I am very satisfied. Breaks the 2GHz mark (though not sure if that really matters) without a sweat.

And the cooler and the fans are EXCELLENT. Really quiet at stock speeds even when playing demanding games and with higher overclock the sound profile is really nice to my ear that it doesn't even bother me if I'm pushing the card.

Ryzen. The entire point was to focus on core number instead of IPC, which is good for industrial applications. Unfortunately, emulators will at best use three cores and CEMU requires the IPC of a current gen Intel. The new Pentium OC'd does better than Ryzen with CEMU.

I'm not CPU limited, you dumb fuck. I'm using a 7700K at 4.8GHz. You're just a clueless retard with no idea what he's talking about. There are games which EASILY tap out a 1080 even at 1080p, mostly involving GoyWorks effects. If you add in MSAA too, you can expand that list dramatically.

You're thinking of Bulldozer.

>>389732740
Sort of, Ryzen CAN issue a 5th instruction per clock cycle, but it only can do four instruction decodes per cycle. That means an instruction that breaks down to two uops can be freely substituted for a single uop instruction. It can also do a cmpjmp in a single fused instruction, allowing basically six operations per clock. It also wins out on 128 bit vector calculations if operations are utilizing both addition and multiplication. That said retrieval of instructions from the code cache seems to be a bottleneck that prevents the vector operations especially from shining their best. On pipeline matters Ryzen is a bit longer than Intel, 18 stage vs 14 stage on Skylake, but conversely branch mispredictions occur with less frequency due to the superior branch predictor, so this isn't a big problem. L1 cache access rates and throughput are slightly below Intel, L2 is superior, and L3 is superior ON THE SAME CCX, of course due to the unique layout L3 performance suffers vastly once you cross CCX boundaries. For individual instructions, Ryzen has far lower throughput for integer multiplication and division, due to them not being pipelined, but better latency.

In summary, lots of small things that can easily be fixed in Zen 2, and by all indications GloFlo 7nm, derived from tech received from them buying out IBM's fab business is meant to be a high frequency node. I wouldn't be shocked by another 10-15% growth in IPC along with high 4ghz range clocks. By their own schedule this should be out in late 2018.

Looking to the future for Intel, it doesn't look good. Even on their own slides they show 10nm being a performance regression from 14nm+ (Kaby Lake). Cannonlake, as commonly known even on /v/, is a laptop only. Icelake, intended to be a new architecture, had its main feature list leaked a few months back, VR and AI load acceleration. It seems Intel won't have a superior response until 2021.

Probably a thinkpad (t420, t430) which doesn't have dedicated gpu and you will even have trouble playing indies made in recent years.
Or spend 100 on some office pre-built (with 2nd/3rd gen i3/i5) and 100 on gpu (Gt1030, rx 560, gtx 1050)

Vega 56-64 with the stock heatsink removed is single slot
>>
>just upgraded from a gtx 660 to a 1050ti

I realize it's a bottom of the barrel card but it's still a dramatic improvement.

You did bad, I'm part of 1%, fuck models on daily basis and don't waste valuable pleasure time on video games, I do skydiving over Dubai and go hunt endangered species from a helicopter with a mounted minigun on it, of course I get away with it because I know powerful and influencial people who keep me away from the trouble. Guess you should have been focusing on becoming rich, looser faggot.

lads is it possible to add water-cooling into a 1080Ti + 7700 shitbox at 2000$? or should I up my budget?
is a single 1080 good enough for dual monitors + 4k or should I SLI?
>>

GTX 670 still.

I'm using a Ryzen 5 1600 with 3200 mhz ram, I'm just waiting for this midrange gpu gentrification to end. RX 580 for £300? Fuck off.

Going from a GTX760 to a an overclocked 1080ti this Christmas. What am I in for when I finally truly join the PC master race? For a few years I felt like I wasn't part of the club, running stuff on only medium/low with 40 ish FPS.

just got a 1070 this week took, bought a 480 last year but regretted it hard as AMD cards lack some graphical options in games. I hope I can push this 1070 for at least 3 years, since I only game on 1080p anyway.

EVGA SSC 1060 6gb refurbished from EVGA. It's in good condition and nothing is wrong with it so far. Hell, I got it at a low price ($229) so I can't complain.

I mean that's a really great GPU for the price, pushing better performance than a Xbone
>>
Sitting with a GTX 960, thinking about going straight for a 1080. Will probably have to check if it'll fit into my case.
