I went back and played Infection and Mutation recently. They're still fun, but holy shit that equipment system was garbage.

>higher level equipment can have shitty skills at the cost of better stats
>wearing everything in the same tier in Infection skews your elemental affinities but don't correspond to the elements available to similarly tiered weapons
>in mutation armor starts giving negative penalties for no fucking reason

I have no idea what was going through their heads when they designed the equipment system like this. One of the most egregious examples is that the highest level Heavy armor in the last game gives you the first tier single target healing spell from the first game.
