I happily jumped ship because of how much of a pain in the dick world tendency was to manage. Every time I wanted to start a new character, I had to play for like the first four hours straight or else I'd get fucked in the ass and miss out on items.

Demons had fantastic levels all the way through, but fuck me did it make my autism explode.

Was DaS1 made by accident? Three fucking games later and they still couldn't match the quality of everything before Anor Londo. They never even tried making the world interconnected again, just branching paths that are one way only with no shortcut back to the hub.

Dark Souls 1 definitely was a lightning in a bottle. They came pretty close with Bloodborne but even that had a vastly inferior game world to Dark Souls 1 considering the interconnectedness. They should remove the warping as a feature from start and design the game world from the get go to fit that premise.

Most people agree that everything post Londo in 1. Miyazaki never wanted to make a sequel so handed off 2 and went to make Bloodborne with his A-team. 3 was meh because Miyazaki was clearly just trying to get Souls done with and refused to hand it off to somebody who gave a shit because of the reception 2 got and/or because he's stubborn.

Miyazaki's buddy Shibuya single handedly wasted half of Dark Souls 2's development time when resources were already shared between the BB team and DS2 team and most of the creatives for DS1 were workjng with Miyazaki on Bloodborne. One thing I do appreciate about DaS2 is it was the last game with a world that felt like it had any real variety. Yeah the world connectivity sucked but the individual areas themselves mostly felt pretty unique from each other. That is a huge difference from Bloodborne and Dark Souls 3 where most things feel kinda samey.

I don't really mind the sameyness but I did mind that the DaS2 levels felt really tiny and the themes between levels varied really wildly and it felt like there was no consistency or logic to them.

I would've been much more okay with wild theme changed if they were larger continuous settings like the DLCs were.

I was disappointed with DaS2 when it came out, but after playing DaS3 I realized it could have been a whole lot worse

They're so radically different games and there are fairly few people who played Bloodborne. I'm lucky to have played it but not everyone has. I almost fell for the Xbone meme back in 2015 but my little brother was a Sonyfag so our parents got us a PS4 for a shared Christmas present.
