movement and shooting are pretty great; pr, marketing, and character designs are pretty horrible. theyre constantly updating and have a plan for future support even with the low playercount, which is pretty nice.

I gotta give it to the waifus though: They do sell games. It has nothing to draw people into, even if I tell you it's good fun it's not enough.

I thought it was going to be Titanfall 2 meets Unreal Tournament, but it's Unreal Tournament meets Overwatch.

I was kinda dissapointed in that, but it's still UT movement and precision. Has no content in it though, nothing else, and the characters are kinda boring most of them. Gunslinger is fucking fun though, adn Juggernaut, but outside that it's "pick Wraith/Harrier and be a giant ass tryhard faggot" or else.

It's incredibly mediocre. Played the beta for a day and got bored. Apparently everyone who bought it also only played it for a week max. And nobody bought it in the first place.

This. Battleborn was playable for an entire month.

It's not bad, it's actually a lot of fun.

However they fuck themselves over by not marketing it at all, and frankly the genre is over saturated and wont support the amount of games there are. If it had come out towards the beginning of the "hero shooter" boom I think it would have done really well. Also it probably doesn't help that it's a lot more skill based than OW (as the main one to compete with) which drives a lot of people away. No "press button, receive 4 kills" buttons.

It wasn't perfect but I had a lot of fun playing with a 5 stack. As for the webm, sniper characters in any game are always cancer as fuck.

Overwatch is full of the same shit, almost every ability has to interfere with your vision in a huge way, regardless of if it is supposed to be beneficial or not.

I dont really get /v/'s excessive obsession with minimalism. Sure, it's not the best hud I've seen but in a game that's not going for immersion, it doesn't need to be tiny and unobtrusive. If it was up to me it would be a bit neater/to the edges, but it's not a big deal at all. The gameplay was good, why would the hud stop me from playing it? If it was a game like quake or UT, where reaction speed and precision aiming is key, it's more important, but in higher TTK games (battleborn being on the longer end of hero shooters in this sense), that's less important.

Well for a starters, it is tiny and unobtrusive to the point you can't fucking read the stats clearly (partially transparent and monochromatic with no outline).
Secondly, the real bad shit isn't the HUD, I'm talking about all of the SCREEN SIZED shaders and effects, like a gunshot that's extremely oversaturated and bloomed out the arse, whole screen glitching or garbling, vignetting, vignetting for damage with red instead of black, distracting shining glass-like lines over the entire screen, etc etc.
It's a complete unnecessary clusterfuck mess. It's like what if Quake 3 had a different seizure inducing effect for every source of damage as well as entering a different room and having your eyeballs dry up. It's way beyond the point of "missing the point of video games"
