The irony is that "Resident Evil" was way more fitting for the name of the original game than "Biohazard", which only fits better in sequels.
You'd expect this sort of thing to happen the other way around, which the name of a later translation to the original game making more sense for the rest of the series as a whole and the actual original name to be a perfect fit for just the first game.
