Ever had to lower the difficulty level to get past something?

When I was really young, I turned on Easy Mode at the very end of SML2 because the room with the bouncing fireballs near the end of Wario's Castle kept fucking me up.

I cheated the whole second half of Arc RIse Fantasia And still struggled.

Not technically lowering difficulty but one of my gaming sins. Still one of my favorite jrpgs of all time though.

Fates hard mode made me drop the difficulty because getting 1 shot by everything was just unfun, like what the fuck.

I tried to beat the opening of Automata on hard for about seven hours until I gave up and lowered it to normal. With all the oneshots everywhere, there should have been a checkpoint after the shmup section and at the start of the fight against Baggar 288.

Only Oblivion, because of how broken the level scaling was combined with how little I understood the leveling system. It got to the point where I couldn't kill a monster 1v1 even on normal.

No but I do regret starting on hard more often than not, the cheaty bullshit in most games just isn't worth it. Tell myself it's better than being stuck on a lower difficulty that you can breeze through without much thought but I'm not sure sometimes

the vampires in novigrad sewers. i didnt have a vampyrism potion or whatever the fuck i needed to fight them. so i had to run around like a retard looting barrels.

the Deathbrand was the hardest for me, might of been because I was playing on Master/Expert and Skyrim is not designed to play well at higher difficulty levels.

But I basically installed a mod that let me have 4 followers, since that fucker had several strong minions.

I think I turned Tales of the Abyss down to normal from hard for a few rough early parts to avoid money grinding.

I levelled up to lvl 20 before going up the mountain just so I could rape that fucking stupid troll. That was payback for when it killed Lydia in my first playthrough

I cheated in Tony Hawk's Underground to beat Eric.

When a game has an extremely annoying boss that takes up 4 minutes of cutscenes before you can even attempt to hit it a couple of itmes yes. I've done that

Dynasty warriors 3, Battle of Wuzhang Plains.
The allies died too fast, and it was my first play through so no good items to use, by the time I killed three generals Zhuge Liang got killed as well. And the existence of crossbowman meant I had to play safe.

I lowered the difficulty for the last horde battle in Bioshock infinite once I realised that was all it was.
