Game is decent 7/10. Story is trash.

It's a classic and they ruined the wonderful combat in the second one. If you play it casually without delving into it then you'll probably think 2 is better.

Bayo 1 is very damn good, despite the QTEs.
Though the combat does feel way more polished in 2.

They are both 6/10 for me.

In what way? They removed the balancing and nuance that 1 had and forced Witch Time, which was the training wheels of 1. They threw out the soul of the combat system and mistook the training wheels for the gimmick.

Here's a fun fact.

I didn't enjoy Bayonetta 2 because it was too formulaic.

Enter a level, walk five feet, encounter, big boss fight, end.

In the first one, there was a hint of exploration reward, backtracking was rewarded via extra encounters, sequel did the same but it wasn't as good as the first and you just knew what was coming.

The weird thing about it though was when I played the first it was all about reacting quickly to an enemy's move and countering.

In the sequel, I felt I was waiting for the enemy's move to counter, waiting for that tell and I blame Dark Souls for that, not the game.

Sequel had this thing though where not only was there a visual prompt for the attack by the enemy's movement, there the usual sound prompt, however they did this thing of three or so frames of slow down for it too which killed EVERYTHING about the gameplay.

I haven't played 2 but I found 1 very enjoyable. I consider it a classic.
