Well, they announced that 4.7 million Switches had been sold between March 3rd and the end of June, then the Switch was the best selling hardware in the US and Japan for July because of Splatoon 2's launch.

The console hit 1 million sold in Japan back in June, and last week it hit the 1.5 million sold mark. so it's pretty fucking likely that it has sold at least 6, if not close to 7 million at it's 6 month mark (which was earlier this week), which are the same numbers that Sony announced at the PS4's 6 month mark.

People will still say the PS4 sold more or faster somehow.

I got a Switch and some games a few days ago and I can confirm that Rabbids is better than XCOM 2. 100% shots on flanks/out in the open, 0% shots behind high cover and 50% behind low. Just that and turning overwatch into an ability with a CD are much better decisions than Firaxis has made for XCOM 2.

Sadly the game doesn't have randomized encounters or multiple difficulty levels so replay value will probably be low. Story is funny because the source of the conflict is a machine that combines two unrelated things together so surface level it's Rabbids being combined with Mario but gameplay level it's Mario being combined with XCOM.

Because the Wii U was the same, it doesn't matter how "good" you start, what matters is staying power, and the Switch is already playing in a market that has been devoured by smartphones, the 3DS, which /v/ fellates constantly as the best handheld ever, sold immensely less than the DS and sold less than the PSP, it's really, as I see it, it's really hard for the Switch to sell more than 30-40M units in its lifetime considering how things are going for everyone, just as I don't see the PS4 reaching PS3 numbers.
The current lineup and library also don't look good at all, nor does the feedback from third parties, which are just throwing Nintendo some pity bones and constantly complaining about hardware that just isn't powerful enough to put relevant games on it.

It doesn't beat Zelda, sure, but millions of sales and high praise by critics can't be wrong, otherwise everyone is also wrong about Zelda. And this isn't even about professional critics, since TLOU also has a higher user score than BOTW, so the people who played it also highly recommend it.
