Got my Ps3 my birthday 2010 when I turned 12, played the shit out of Red Dead and uncharted 2

Funny enough I didn't notice either of them being bad in any way and thoroughly enjoying them both, revisiting them almost 10 years later, only Nuts and Bolts holds up.

I feel like this is prevalent with games, not realizing games you played back then werent really that great
and it's hard to revisit them and assess them without nostalgia goggles because you associate them with the good times of your childhood and the innocent naive fun you had and dont want to dismiss it as just your naivete and kid sensibilities
like if you play a childhood favorite and dont have fun as an adult you feel it invalidates the fun you had so you just say it's still good when it probably isnt

I miss when everyone was confused about all the PS3 SKUs and which models had backward compatibility
when everyone and their literal grandma was scrambling to get a Wii
when even the PS2 was still delivering kick ass games

it makes me try to consciously live in the now and appreciate all the little things that are happening in the present and taking part in the history as it happens

Anyone play kirby airride on gc? I loved that for some reason.

I remember wishing only for an Original Xbox for christmas 2006 when I was 12 so I could play the Halo games.

I got the Xbox 360 and Gears of War instead and it's still the best christmas I've ever had. I played Gears of War pretty much every day for a year, sometimes even waking up at 6am so I could play before going to school. 2006 - 2010 was the golden age of gaming for me.

I remember when I got my PS2 in Christmas 05 with MegaMan X7 and Jak and Daxter. Fucking great Christmas, even if I didn't have a memory card for a few weeks I still played the shit out of the games I had. I know X7 is awful, but I tried to keep playing it to see if I liked it after but it just got worse. Still appreciated the gift though

I always thought the recession played a role in their decline. That same year before it happened you had games like the original bioshock and deadspace come to surface. After the end of 2007 any new IPs still in development got rushed out.
