I got done with the 3DS version some months back, and if that's seriously the version with a lot of the filler and chaff cut out of it, it's nowhere near enough. Easily my least favorite DQ game so far.

DQ7 is absolute trash

This. I could tolerate most of the other annoyances in the game, but having one shitty story after another just saps your will to progress. I still beat it, but I almost regret doing so.
