Zelda is always re-incarnated into another Princess Zelda of the royal family.
In at least one, if not multiple, if not all Link ends up with Zelda.
Its implied he ended up with Zelda in Zelda II, thus her decedents are the product of Link and Zelda.
If Link like Zelda is always re-incarnated as one of his own decedents, then that would mean as the way explained above, some Link descendants are related to a Link and Zelda union, thus Link and Zelda are related by blood, be it distant cousins.

This is also why I believe Link does not always end up with Zelda.

OoT, Link had a chance to end up with Zelda or Malon, Ruto. Saria, Nabooru or some girl. HOWEVER, if all Link's re-incarnate as descendants, the Link could only end up with Zelda or Malon as Link is a Hylain at all time.
But, if not, its possible that Link did fuck Ruto, and maybe thats why the Zora in TP look a lot more Human.

As for Breath of the Wild, its indeed probable that Link and Zelda are distant cousins, if Link is always re-incarnated as his own descendant, because Link almost certainly ended up with the Sleeping Zelda of Zelda II, and Breath of the Wild is the latest in the Fallen Hero timeline.

Link being related to royalty in someway may also be why his father and him are knights in the first place.
