What are the reasons to purchase a video game console? All of the games are multiplats, so owning the specialized system is somehow redundant. Is it justifiable to purchase a system for a handful of games?

Comfyness.
Not wanting to have to upgrade a system.
Less prone to failure (if fails you have one retailer who will quickly replace it instead of the problems you especially have when building a PC).
Things just run withiut you having to adjust anything.
It can be used as a living room entertainment system.
It's not as big, clunky and loud as a PC.
I am a grown person I don't want some battlestations or whatsoever in my apartement.
Put the disc in and play (admittedly, this is becoming a rare case on console as well).
Comfiness on the couch.
For some people the exclusives.

I played Pong the other day at a museum with a regional manager in his 40s the other day.

>"Playstation" or "Xbox" are mature, respectable choices fit for an adult
>Can play mature games published by Activision and Ubisoft for mature gamers like myself

Have you looked into the PS4 library? Also, aren't PCs notorious for their early access alpha hype games?

The people who buy a console do jot buy them for a handful of games, they buy them to play current gen multiplats. If you have a good PC, consoles are not even your market, yet ironically, PC users are likely to still buy at least one console every new gen because, suprise suprise, that game they want is only on console AGAIN, so they have to buy another console just like they did last gen AGAIN.
It's a glorious... circle pf like or whatever...
>>389482143
>always buy consoles a gen behind
>get the "slim" model with all the upgradesand downgradesand kinks worked out of the hardware
>the 10 or so games are $10 each used
>will never have to pay for online because there are no online exclusives worth a shit

Yeah, he likes Zelda, unfortunately I have never really played it (besides some Gameboy entries) so we weren't able to talk about that much. He did tell me though that he prefers Majoras Mask over Ocarina of time which I found a bit surprising as Zelda fans seem to praise Ocarina of time more than any other game. He mostly plays Nintendo stuff at home with his kids, so you're right - he isn't a cheeto mtndw sippin GaMEr

On 3DS I own 40 games that I bought legally. More illegally. On Switch I own 7 already. On DS I owned dozens. You're just a casual

Not even trying to be ironic but usually the first lines of new generation consoles are the best. At least when it comes to hacking and modding (look at PS3 and PS4 for example).
Playing on a platform where you can play with your irl friends.
PC, PS4, Switch, Phone
All you really need, maybe a 3DS
Consoles have certain exclusives, and this appeals to the fans of those certain genres and series. You won't convince these people to not buy these games just by talking about how amazing the graphics, FPS, etc. are on PC. They're committed fans of specific games and so those matter much more than what platform they're on.
Despite this, people who own consoles still get accused of simply being ignorant instead of making informed choices based on a knowledge of their personal taste. Or just get called weebs.

It is a legitimate point to be mentioned, though.
But I get where you're coming from. I am just currently very butthurt that I don't own a PS4 below 1.76 firmware. Never will I be able to run Linux on my PS4.

Lower barrier to entry, easier to set up for a dedicated tv/couch set up, previous investment in an ecosystem, less maintenance/more closed system generally means less stability issues, collector appeal, among many many others.
The real question is why post a bait thread when you could be building a valuable skillset, improving yourself, meeting friends or suitors, orplaying video games
