It's pretty clear: Sundowner likes war and the war economy, and wants to keep it going. The destruction of nature as it says in the lyrics alludes to either the destruction that happens because of war, or because of the resources taken from the Earth to fuel said war.

To him, Armstrong's world of the strong imposing their views on the weak wouldn't be possible, since the strongest get their ideals from those around them, the weaker too.

Unlike most of the songs "Red Sun" is very metaphorical with the lyrics having double meaning

The fact that a stupid butt rock song in an over the top hack-and-slasher has this much effort put into the lyrics is one of the reasons I love this game

If he managed to hit Armstrong with the nanomachine suppressors used to kill Vamp before Armstrong could power up, Snake probably could have just killed him easily. Of course in a face to face fight like Raiden gave him Snake would get bodied, but Snake used much different tactics than Raiden

Khamsin was a tool

They all were, regardless of how much they wanted to be at Armstrong's side. Armstrong hated everything about what they represent and what they do, he's especially at ends with Sundowner. I'm pretty sure the only one who truly knows what Armstrong thinks was Sam and Raiden. Other than that, he continued his charade of just being in it to feed into the military industrial complex. Sundowner was in charge and there's no way he would have gone along with it if he knew what Armstrong was up to, because not only is he totally into war as a business, but Armstrong planned from the beginning to frame Desperado (Sundowner included)
