Ultra wide and 4K are great, but I can't give up them framerates.
>>
>>389473231
I have 2560x1080@60hz. That resolution is almost as big as 2560x1440. Some games struggle to get smooth 60 fps with GTX 1080. Of course most of the vidya is fine, especially bit older titles. Don't believe the hype, you need a huge gfx card to support those fancy resolutions.

How it's stupid? It's all a matter of perspective. You can say a wider box is the same as a less-tall box, or you can say a taller box is the same as a less-wide box.

you try to sell the idea of a wider aspect ratio by showing more to the sides, but I could just as easily say you're just cutting off the top and bottom of the 16:9 screen and actually giving less information.

you morons

while a single eyes FOV ratio is close to 4:3, the fact that you have two eyes and that they're at a distance from each other and your brain interlaces them, makes your FOV is a sort of oval, so wider displays make sense, they fill more proportional space of your overall field of view, rather than a fucking square
>>
>>389475452
16:9 fills my glasses almost completely. I can't imagine wanting anything wider. 16:10 or 15:10 are easily the best sweet spots for genuine human vision

With the vertical size being constant, 21:"9" and 16:"9", there is no "perspective anon.

You're either grasping for straws or need a refresh in geometry.

>>
>>389476679
>With the vertical size being constant
Okay, so you completely misunderstand my point. The point I'm making is that the vertical size doesn't need to be constant. I could just as easily say "with the horizontal size being constant, 16:9 shows more than 21:9"
>>
>>389476932

Impractical argument though. To fit a 21:9 in say a standard 24" 16:9 screen, you would need a 17" 21:9 screen.

And your argument ignores the clear FOV advantage that 21:9 will retain no matter what size it is.

I agree with you OP, I could never downgrade to 16:9 ever. There is no compat issues, I don't know what these tards are talking about. I came from 3 1080p in ultrawide and that is where issues came up so I went to a single ultrawide and it is perfect. The Asus PG348q, with a GTX 1080 powering it, gets me over 100fps in all the games. Could not be happier.

If you aren't gaming on an 40inch 4k HDR monitor you ain't gaming. Get on my level

I'm kind of butthurt because I could buy a 1440p ultrawide but I read that model had problems with flickering and ghosting. But apparently they fixed those recently, but I already have a 1440p 16:9 monitor. Bummer. At least this one has more Hertz.

"FPS games with good fov options" aka old or modded games -> dont even have a ultrawide support. So many times even for new indie games I see people complaining about WHY NO ULTRAWIDE in steam forums its just so baka.

Ultrawide monitor is the best gaming purchase I've made in years, going back to 16:9 physically hurts my eyes and makes me violently ill.
