Infamous: Second Son is free on PSN this month. Is it any good?

The game play is king. If you've haven't play 1&2 it's a good starting point, albeit disappointing if you did in terms of story. It's pretty much dude bro capeshit that's a treat on the eyes with some replay value.

SUPER generic, its like crysis 2 with semi-interesting powers. Plus the characters are cringe

gameplay is an improvement over previous games but i found it hard to care for the characters, especially in the evil route

The powers. There isn't a single capeshit game today that makes you feel like your wrecking the shit out things like inFAMOUS. Not a single fucking game. The world is massive and fun to traverse, and even when you get video it never seems like the other powers become obsolete in terms of traversing. The story is at least fun for a second play through and easy platinum just to see alternate scenes, dialogue. powers, etc. The game is above average.

Going the evil route didn't feel different enough. Your brother still says he's proud of you when he falls, but he's a cop and at that point I was a terrorist who killed a nonviolent rally leader live on television and laughed about it, plus killing mass amounts of harmless civilians. In Infamous 1 & 2 the dialog changed enough to make you feel like a real villain.

And I was kind of bored fighting concrete soldiers throughout the entire game, Infamous 1 & 2 had better variety with enemies and bosses.

I loved it back at launch, and even enjoyed replaying it after it bgot Pro support. Not as good as the first two games, but still a good blast from start to finish. Video power is shit though, NEON is GOAT.

Its alright, gameplay is fun but its nothing more then a prettied up Infamous 2 with a worse story.

The one benefit is that while the mc looks like a Donte tier edgelord faggot, he turned out to be pretty alright, which I think left me with a positive impression on the game.

It's my first Infamous game and I just got to Seattle and started causing chaos. Pretty fucking fun so far.

It desperately needed more enemy and submission variety, but outside of that it's a pretty dope game.

It wasn't just Video that bothered me, but Eugene did as well. With his army of angels he was saving tons of people from DUP, in his room you saw a gargantuan pile of those Conduit jackets, and he was giving Delsin information through the radio. But after you meet him Delsin acts like Eugene is overly coy and that he needs to help more. But he was helping tons, and he made first contact in their partnership. At that point in the story he probably saved more people than Delsin did. It's like they wanted to give that character an arc but didn't really think it through.

I guess I'm one of the few that likes video a lot. L1 hide + summoning angels makes for some fun combos. Plus the delayed action on R1's missiles is so satisfying. But still, neon is king.

Something that irritated me about this game compared to the last 2 is the fact it's much more awkward to fill your power meter, the last game just lets you do it pretty much fucking anywhere with a car but I've got to do all this stupid shit and find obscure things to do it, also they didn't just put in a button so you could switch powers on the fly and instead just made it retarded.

Otherwise gameplay is the best in the series helped by the high frame rate.

I'd like to think that in the end i had a more enjoyable gameplay experience with second son over infamous 1, but the stark shift in tone of the good and evil system felt more natural in infamous 1, as cole starting off as kind of a neutral hardass meant that he could redeem himself and show his softer side or become even more bitter at the world that fucked him over. Also, the black and red evil lightninf was pretty damn edgy yet cool, and no super move compares to just dropping a BIGASS red and black thunderbolt to wreck a whole crowd of enemies. The collectibles were shit though, and the world bland and uninteresting. Infamous 2 fixed the color issues for sure, however, new Marais was gorgeous and ice/tar powers were awesome

Yeah, definitely the story and characters. Visually it was miles ahead of Infamous 2, and in terms of gameplay I'd say it was better. The acquisition of powers sometimes felt a bit rushed, though, and I was always disappointed by how few were available. Upgrade trees being smaller felt odd, but I think both of those are personal preference.

Was it ever explained exactly why conduits were returning? Or why they no longer need a special bomb to activate their powers?

I'm assuming that Second Son carries on from the good ending of the second game, because in the bad ending Cole just goes around the world killing anyone who isn't a conduit. But in the good ending Cole kills every single conduit.

Yeah, it's pretty good. The story is worse than the first game (I never played 2, so I can't make any comment on it), but the gameplay is fun. It's a bit on the short side and you can platinum it relatively quickly and easily.

The characters kind of suck and the gameplay isn't super deep but the effects and combat look pretty sweet so I've had fun playing it.

That's really all i can say about it.

It's pretty good, but the powers get progressively better so there's no reason to ever go back to the older powers. Story is forgettable and you see each character in literally 2 missions for each of them and then nothing until the end.

Video is by far the best power all around. Neon is marginally better for combat if you have good path zoom-slow, but not enough to offset how much bettr travelign is with Video. Smoke is reskinned lightning basically, no reason to ever use it again.

It's not as good as 1 and 2.
