>sequel introduces a new mechanic that ruins the game
>>389467694
Anon how do i tell you, Yu Gi Oh is dead since GX
>>389467694
To be fair, Yu-Gi-Oh has been ruined for years.
Can't speak for how Links work in practice because I've long since quit, but in theory this is them trying to reign in the stupid bullshit that has plagued the game for almost a decade now.
>>389467694
Just play Duel Links. It has none of this syncro/link/pendulum crap.
>>389467694
Yu Gi Oh was dead WAAAAAY before this shit happened.
Yu-Gi-Oh died at Magic Ruler.
>>389467875
It's the same XYZ shit under a different name
INTO THE BRAINS
Yu-Gi-Oh has never been good and has always paled in comparison to M:TG
>tfw no Tag Force 7
>>389468152
Maybe I don't have a full grasp on the mechanic, but based on the brief description a friend gave me I would assume that I slows the game down significantly.
But, like I said, I don't know too much about how it actually functions in practice. It would not surprise me in the slightest to learn that they fucked it up by cooking up something MORE bullshit than XYZ/Pendulum.
>>389467989
only retards play duel links
>>389468365
It "slow downs" in the sense that Link is required if you want to go spamming XYZ shit and what-not, but in practice that's still possible and Links themselves are spammable
>"how can we nerf special summoning" the card type
Link cards are directly catering to nostalgiafaggots
I really miss inzektor meta
>>389467798
fpbp
>>389467989
She must be boring to fuck
What even IS the meta right now?
Last I played I was using evilswarm and psyframes were new
>>389469538
My fucking nigga. This was the last time I ever enjoyed playing the game. Quit soon after.
>>389469773
Dracos and Dinosaurs
Oh boo hoo. Links made it fair again.
>>389467989
Duel Links is also shit, so I don't know why you would want him to play it.
>3 cards to get this thing out
>>389468924
I want to fuck both of them.
>>389470491
>not using instant fusion.
>>389470358
And his Dinosaur brother
>>389467989
>Playing Duel Links
>>389467694
I like the more emphasis on card and column placement, I just wish there wasn't such a radical change that affects 99% all decks.
Links are simpler then pendulums, but you didn't need to play pendulum decks to stay meta and pendulum mechanic didn't affect all the old decks either.
They are going to have to throw a lot of great generic link support if they don't want to completely kill off older decks. The concept is interesting, but it feels way less thought out then every other major format change.
>>389470694
What? Duel Links is genius! It streamlines the game and cuts out all the bullshit Konami weighed the game down with, then intentionally shunts the meta back by more than a decade to slowly bring the playerbase up to speed! It's a Yu-Gi-Oh! game for people who grew tired of Yu-Gi-Oh!, making it the best Yu-Gi-Oh! game by default!
Don't even get me started on the presentation!
>>389470358
How expensive is this shit?
>>389470491
Funny to remember how 900 attack was pretty fucking good when the game first started. now 4 star normals with 1900+ are the norm
Are spirit decks any fun?
>>389472064
900 atk was never good
When the game first started 1500-1800 attack was the strong, and it was all on normal monsters.
Then you'd get things like 1800-2300 attack but they were all effect monsters that had terrible limiters on them.
Now you have 1900 attack effect monsters that summon a million other monsters that mix together to get you a 4500 attack monster that can clear the opponents board and hit twice or something
>>389472064
Not really. 900 attack was bad even back then. Even worse that it was a fusion and Mystical Sheep had either 1200 or 800 attack.
>>389471673
I used to play Duel Links for nostalgia but I didn't like that it wasn't the normal game. Then it was realizing that Yu-Gi-Oh justs not great. There's no balance and too much power hype.
>>389468045
that card isn't even that bad

Also forgot to mention Zoodiac TCG side til they get hit by the ban list again.
>>389470491
>it was suddenly useful again thanks to XYZ monsters
Really activates my trap cards
>>389468924
Not like it even did what it was supposed to do. People broke the shit out of it in like a week
>>389472771
>just pulled some of the zoodiac cards from a tin earlier today
Are they broken? Should I sell while the irons hot?
>>389472959
banlist is soonTMand zoodiac are expecting a massive hit, so you may as well
there's bound to be some retards buying them up still
>>389467989
>Duel Links
>>389471673
>Skills are definitely what a card game needs
>>389472574
Actually, when the first Konami brand cards came out, Hitotsu-Me Giant, Silver fang, and Mammoth Graveyard were the strongest non-tribute monsters. Most monsters were 500-800 atk.
>>389472173
Only this one
>>389472725
In context to what's out now, of course not, but when it, Chaos Dragon, and Yata Garasu were first released, they effectively damaged the game beyond repair. Chaos decks everywhere because they were quick easy summons. Envoy could quickly come out, clear a field, then you brought out Chaos Dragon and Yata Grasu and that was game.
>>389473616
It's a way to spice things up. Send it out into the wild, see what the playerbase does with it.
And let me tell you: playing as Pegasus really is something else.
Post your ace, /v/
> Install Duel Links a month ago and stop playing after a week
> Sends me messages daily about unclocking kid-Yugi
> Fall for it and and load it up to check it out
> Get lost in the shitty UI and can't find out where the fuck to go to get him or what to do
Oh ok
>>389473703
Actually, the earliest of days in nipponland this was the most sought after card. It wasn't even given in a booster. (IIRC, it was a card you could only get by getting a specific manga volume.)
>>389472574
900 atk from a special summon? That's pretty decent
>>389473932
go back to finishing that archetype archive, rata
>>389467694
How is this mechanic ruining the game? If anything it's an attempt to fix the broken mess that is current YGO.
>>389473932
>>389474002
That's nice. I always liked Celtic Guardian.
Ygoautists are the lowest of the lowest. MtG players laugh at them, Hearthstone players laugh at them, they laugh at themselves. Literally nobody looks up to them.

>>389474054
It kills everyone's pet decks, even the top tier decks before it came out were, at most, affected very little by it.
>>389474109
Skills are easier and simpler to manage than the myriad of special card types introduced to the game over the years.

>>389474316
you can get the structure decks now for yugi and kaiba that each have some amazing cards in them as well as some generic beaters almost as soon as you start the game
there's also super rush headlong in the dawn of destiny minibox that's pretty easy to get compared to other powerful removal currently in the game
>>389474382
If you can't add numbers together or recognize when 2 numbers are the same or know what numbers are between other numbers, I don't know what to say to you
>>389474406
Battle Ox was an ultra rare.
ok, people are missing the context, that fusion was a mere rare, and fusions were special summons, that means unlimited summoning if the conditions were right. I could pull that card out with a poly, tribute it or attack with it and back when the game started people weren't swimming in cards like Battle OX unless you were one of this shitty rich kids who bought cards.
>>389467694
What's its defense?
>>389474487
It's more than that. Shit's time consuming and saps your money.
See, the great thing about Duel Links is that you don't actually need to pay Konami a red cent.
>>389474731
it doesn't.
>>389474731
It has none, it can't go into defence mode.
>>389474595
Cheers
>>389474316
Duel Links' lack of an ability to just buy/craft specific cards you want is probably the worst thing about it.
I just wanted a Megarock Dragon from the shitty rock/beast pack they released and I ended up having to go through every single pack int he box to just get one.
>>389473932
This or Daedalus. I love my water decks
>>389474646
You're not even trying to bait if you honestly think anybody ITT is going to believe that's all modern day Yu-Gi-Oh! is.
>>389474715
Battle Ox wasn't ultra rare, it was a fucking common in the kaiba deck. Literally everyone had one
>>389474731
>he thinks defense matters anymore
>>389474874
That's all Synchro, XYZ, and Pendulums are.
There's stuff from the beginning that's way more complicated than that, like missing your timing.
>>389467694
Yugioh went to shit almost like 15 years ago now.
It's just an example of a series having more and more shit gangfucked onto it to keep it """"""""fresh""""""".
>>389474897
>Defense doesn't matter
>>389475020
yugioh went to shit when they strayed away from occult and focused on sci-fi instead
>>389474742
>Play Duel Links like a nostalgiafag
>Have to pray to RNGodess that you get the cards you get the cards you want from boosters or wait for limited time events to come back in.
>Play YGOPRO
>Play with any card you want to, right from the start.
>>389474982
i hate how missed timing is even a thing thanks to that little fucking "when" they loved to slap onto cards (and still do sometimes)
so often i think of some dank card combo that nets me some great advantage only to find it gets fucked by that one fucking word
>>389475154
>YGOpro still hasn't updated with Links
Wake up you fuck
>>389467694
>"the game is too fast! game ruined"
>introduce mechanic to slow it down a bit
>"wtf konami???? game ruined"
>>389474982
Like heck, those are precisely the things that cause meta, and meta is cancer.
Guess what Duel Links doesn't have. It's as of right now your best bet to play good old theme deck versus theme deck duels.
>>389475254
I know, I made the switch to 2, Saturday. I just wish the client didn't crash when doing an A.I duel
>>389475154
You're supposed to play Duel Links with whatever you have. You know, like normal people.
> play Trickstar
> Opponent instantly ragequits
>>389475276
Zexal era showed that you can slow the game down without killing 80% of the decks.
>>389475437
Normal people buy singles
>>389475276
If links had slowed the game down that'd be one thing, but it didn't do that.
>>389475302
>Guess what Duel Links doesn't have
Fun
Good cards

I've played Duel Links and it's fucking shit
>>389473703
Were you even around when the game first came out? Celtic Guardian, Harpy Lady, Battle Ox; More than 1200 attack and 4 stars.
How's the meta right now? Still Zoo dominated? When's the new banlist?
>>389475384
I use ChinkPro personally

>makes a bunch of decks that can play just as fast with links

Did dev add in links? I uninstalled it, because everyone I knew played Percy.
>>389475276
>typical dumb weeb knows nothing
back to your cont/a/inment board you go.
>>389475276
Links ended up doing the exact opposite of what it was meant to do. Links purpose was to stop the meta decks from shitting on every other deck, where it basically did nothing negative to the meta decks where nearly all other decks are now unviable.
>>389476085
I don't really play or keep track of DevPro, but I don't think it has Links yet either.
