HL1 had way more enemy types 2 felt like COD. Gunplay also sucks cock every weapon aside from the revolver felt like shit so what's so good about this game? What's good about FPS game where shooting sucks? Certainly not the bland characters.

Enemy Variety in Half-life was shit

Quake has way more enemy types, Half-life felt like Goldeneye. All the guns felt like shit and the only difficulty comes from marines spamming grenades. What's good about an FPS where the shooting sucks and there's not that much of it in the game anyway?

I think the enemy variety in HL2 is pretty good, comparing it to COD is just hyperbolic

The game has plenty of long stretches of pure shooting/exploring. Those little "standing still doing nothing" moments give you time to breathe on occasion, without them the game would be just relentless action with no highs or lows.

The only way I could see those bits being worth bitching about is if you're looking to play a pure non-stop arcade shooter, but for some reason decided to play Half-Life 2, a game known for its emphasis on scripted setpieces.
