Depends on the rarity of the crate(yes really). The lower quality crates give more steam shovelware and digital homicide tier bullshit.

Knowing g2a the games you get will be revoked keys
>tfw modern "gamers" are so infantile they need to open super special boxes to get cosmetics because the gameplay no matter how good doesnt keep their ADD ridden heads interested
What the fuck happened to playing a game for the enjoyment of the gameplay

2007 and 2008 happened

Yeah, companies found a comfy loophole in gambling laws that allows them to peddle gambling to children and addicts while also not notifying people that they're gambling (which is supposed to be required by law).
There are a lot of laws that need to be revisited in light of modern advances in the digital realm, gambling laws are definitely among them.
Basically, this stuff needs to be brought under the same laws and regulations as gambling, because that's what it is. Won't happen though, gambling laws never got reformed to apply to Trading Card games, which they should have been and it's been decades since those became a thing. Problem is that when you have the right money padding the right pockets you can stop these types of reforms from even being proposed.

You can thank Valve for that.

The last 2 good years
Everything has been objectively horrible since then, good games are now the exception
>check the free spins for the "troll so funny maymay" box
>it's always shit
I get where they are going but if you want to hook any idiot you have to at least make the free rolls give you something good, this is plain retarded

Cosmetic only lootboxes exist because people like you loved to complain about pay2win
>>389454173
>implying a world where we gamble in every game for statboosts would be better
I bet there will be laws in the future to put an end to this all and millions of addicted spergs losing their shit because they can't gamble anymore.
>>389452661
watch the EU crack down on it
>>389454296
Hopefully we'll at least get to the point where they're actually transparent on drop rates.
>>389454586
I don't think that will do anything. People know the odds of winning at a casino, but they still go.
>>389454586
The Chinese government's actually trying to enforce that.
>>389454173
>people like me
Nice projecting you stupid nigger.

This isn't really a loophole. It's still gambling since by many state laws the definition revolves on paying money for a random outcome.
In Vegas many casinos converted money to chips and tried to say how it wasn't because real money wasn't involved but that got ousted by the judges
>>389455889
How is it not a loophole? They're offering gambling without having to comply with gambling laws and regulations by disguising it as something else and offering non-monetary rewards.
It is the literal definition of a loophole to do something regulated without having to follow said regulations.

As much as I hate the media, theyve been talking about this stuff fairly frequently, if we are lucky we might actually see some change in the near future
