Resident Evil 4
Then 1-3, whichever you prefer is pretty much personal preference. I like RE3 for the dodging and I like the Nemesis gimmick, and RE1 for the dialogue. RE2 is great but the whole two disc thing is sorta meh. There's already enough backtracking, y'know?

I just beat three yesterday for close to the 20th time, and all i did was make pistol and shotgun rounds, killed nemmy every time. Game became easy as hell after getting the Eagle and Western Custom.

You can still play online nowadays if you emulate the Japanese version and use the Obsrv servers. You can google how to do it. I'd say that it's still really worth it playing by yourself as well.

You'll have to learn the rather complex and dumb AI behavior, but it's not really that big of a bother. They're mostly dumb because they can't dodge enemies all that well and usually attack zombies on sight without no regards for ammo conservation, but other than that, the AI functions well. I'm also saying that the AI is complex since each character has their "personality" when they're picked as AI partners - David is a loner and often will go his own way, Jim is a coward and will rarely attack enemies and do his own thing, if you play as Kevin, then Yoko will often follow you, etc.

There's also a shitload of replayability in each scenario unlike previous games, since playing as different character or difficulty change up the scenarios in several ways. There's also collectibles and unlockables.

I also forgot to mention that the Outbreak games have a nice little feature that's unique to them, which is the ad-lib system. Basically, whenever you press the Square button, your character will spit out a one-liner or engage in a conversation with AI partners. It's a neat little system that makes the game more fun.

I've only played Outbreak solo, and I still enjoyed both of the games. They are flawed though, with the 2nd game fixing some of the flaws form the first. If you enjoy classic RE they're worth a try at least. The Ai can be dumb at times, and in some scenarios if you get stuck, make sure the AI hasn't got a key item on them (they sometimes can run off on there own and complete sections of a scenario by themselves, or die trying).

Fixed Camera angles but tank controls are D-pad only. Analog uses 2D movement. Also, Outbreak has a shit load of loading screens, much more than I remember. I swear they have a fixed minimum length too.

RE5 and RE6.

Not interested in survival horror genre but am very interested in fun co-op experiences. There aren't enough co-op games with full campaigns out there.

As far as tank controls go it was the smoothest, and most comfortable RE to control. Dodging, sprinting and overall movement felt fuckin great. Even these days when I replay RE Zero-3 I still end up walking into walls for a split second or 2 because of camera and shit controls.

It's not terrible solo but it takes a lot of the fun out of it. When the game first came out Capcom wasn't prepared for it's success. They had an error message displaying to all users "Due to the unprecedented and unexpected success, our servers were not prepared for the volume of players blah blah." I'm paraphrasing but online is fun.

There is Dead Rising 3 as well but yeah. Not a whole lot of games with co-op campaigns in general, not just in this genre. I don't really understand it myself because co-op is what made so many games fun as hell back in the 90's when couch co-op was a thing. Then developers just abandoned that type of thing altogether and even with broadband being standard they still aren't giving us much. It's just a bunch of competitive shit. Games that COULD have online co-op end up just being local co-op only which is fucking worthless in this day and age.
