i dunno what a white RPG is 2bh. Do you mean western? i'd usually call those CRPGs 2bh to differentiate them from JRPGs. do Age of Decadence, Shadowrun Dragonfall and HK, UnderRail, Divinity, Inquisitor etc count? Those are all pretty great. Dark Souls and Dragon's Dogma should probably count IMO. Country o origin aside, their design philosophy is very much in line with western ideals.

I don't know how far I got into Dragonfall before quitting, but I remember being surprised given all the praise the game had gotten. Should I really give it another chance? All the characters seemed poorly written with the occasional exception of Dietrich (Glory was maximum edge, even a cybernetic samurai; Blitz was predictable 2cool4u hacker; Eiger was a prissy, oversensitive bitch, which I wouldn't expect from a troll, though I'm not familiar enough with Shadowrun lore to know if this is a common thing with trolls), combat was run of the mill SRPG without any standout traits to set it apart, and I don't remember there being much in the way of personal character building or choice.

I always thought I'd prefer the setting of Hong Kong more, but there seems to be a mutual agreement that Dragonfall is the best the revival series has to offer.

From what I've gathered these things tend to be unanimous traits in "maximum edge" characters. Troubled upbringings, depression, and insecurities that manifest as katana-and-gun-toting badasses with Skillet backing music.

I do remember being able to pick on Blitz a lot, so I'll give you that.

I don't mean to say her reasoning was bad, I just feel how they approached her characterization was poor. Again, Dragonfall is the only Shadowrun game I've played, so I don't know how exactly they handle races in their lore, but all the races in Dragonfall seemed to be more or less just humans with different physiques. It's especially jarring when when that she-hulk has it in for me it amounts to little more than side-eye and passive aggression. I could be remembering things wrong, but the way Eiger was written seemed like it could have much more believably fit a human character and she was either made a troll for the sake of having a troll in the team, or the writers just didn't know how to characterize a troll.
