Not fair to outright call it bad considering how much it's got to offer, it's gorgeous graphics and detailed world, and obvious polish, but I don't get why it's a masterpiece. It plays like a Ubisoft game or fo4. I don't get how people here can shit on fo3/4, dragon age inquisition, and Ubisoft checklist open world games while maintaining that tw3 is "the best game in the last decade" while having similar mechanics and shallow roleplaying/dialogue choices to some of the most reviled games on /v/. Don´t be naive, TW3 is a great game because it has a great narrative, a masterfully crafted world with a lot of interesting content and quests going on all the time, combat variations are like day and night, i played my first run with ursine + heavy attacks, now im playing with fast ones and magic and my playstyle has changed drastically. Besides the npcs are interesting, deep and evolve in time, whereas in the games you mentioned im the fucking savior of the world but people still make me clean up the rubbish of their robotic cities.
And im not even talking about enemies, variations, quantity or how to aproach them. If you fight a lycan in TW3 you need to take care of it´s regeneration of instance, also if he is in a cave (mostly cases) you´ll need a decoction to see in darkness, plus health restoration and so on. If you are fighting a dragon/Deathclaw you´ll need to smash the shit out of them without previous preparation, it´s not even like old Daggerfall-Morrowind or FO1-2 combat anymore, so why bother?

I'm very bitter on the game but I have to admit it's probably the best open world scale I've seen. It's not like Bethesda games where you go from ancient hidden cave to ancient hidden cave in five steps, or where the cities have 12 people population. Talking about a design perspective, when you make a city/village or even a fort, you try to make it real in a way that doesn´t intercede with the suspension of disbelief of the player. That´s why TW3 is so impressive, take White Orchard for instance, is a small village full of farmers, with the basic characteristics from human settlements, like:

>Conected with comercial routes
>With a lot of crop fields to sustain them
>Windmills and fishermen huts
And so on. That´s the interesting part and what makes the game big, if you remove that, and just put a Megaton in there, it feels empty, bland and without placement on the world.

There are plenty of them. I can get your bait by trying to exclude the best ones, which are quest related, but there it goes.
The main aproach to them for me would be in White Orchard, the first village visited by Geralt and Vessemir.
There you can just follow Vessemir or make a stop and watch the npcs interact.
Two npcs start talking about how they must obey the new nilfgardian rules, in order to protect their beloved ones, pointing to (what i suppose) is its house wherea woman and a kid stands, then they move the dialog until a pack of wolves shows up and, instead of running away, that npc fights back trying to defend their breed.
Another one could be, and probably the most well known one, that kid in the first big village singing songs about Emyr while playing in the water.
You could add to this all the event´s that are constantly happening around, like a farmer argumenting with another one for being racist (grandfather was nilfgardian).
You´ll probably discard this in order to achieve some personal win, but the truth is that it´s very, very well done. Even better than Morrowind.

Since it´s more an ARPG and not a CRPG, there is not such a difference between them, but, and here is a big but. Your choices matter in a way that you could get eventually hated by the sorceress lodge or the towns you visit, even some of them being wiped from the map or rescued. This is not obviously a +5 to Wolf Witchers Clan and -5 to Telvanni Witchers, because it doesn´t fit here since you suppossed to be always neutral towards everyone, not like Morrowind.
And yes, you might lose content by making choices towards a npc or another in the sidequests and main quest.

Control exactly like the sword, have the same animations as the sword, I can't believe you're being this dishonest. And there's no "medium" moveset btw, only light and heavy. Potions are just buffs they don't do anything to change the combat,you're still just clicking away.

Why don't you play a game that does this right, like Dark Souls, where different types of weapons have different weight and they all feel and control differently, have different moves, many of them have a unique movie to the weapon, and you have many type of items that actually change the way the game is played, not just +25% fire ressistance, +5% immolation bs

In tw3 the dialogues were made to fill the background of the world and it´s own story, in Morrowind only quests related npcs have something interesting to say.
