Well, I've never played xcom but compared to all the indie garbage and launch titles I wasted money on this game has been really fun for the first few hours I've played. I guess it depends if you prefer more hardcore strategy games but so far the whole team and environmental dynamics of the fights has been pretty engaging and the game feels way more Mario than another 2D cash in. But I've never managed to play a strategy game all the way through so we'll see.

Mario+Rabbids has the most fleshed out movement systems in a TBS game. It's fun to set up perfect jumps or chain multiple slides, but most people I've seen play this game don't even bother with the movement mechanics. That's where most of the depth is and where most of the fun lies.

I'm halfway through world 3 so I'd imagine the whole game takes around 25-30 hours. There's plenty of replay value because the style of play will be completely different depending on your party and what weapons you have equipped.

This game is amazing to me, it's like someone heard all of the complaints about >95% in Xcom and decided to make the 'fair' version where the odds are super simple and the game's based around it.

It's absurd, this stupid fucking ubisoft title has no business being as good as it is, full of tiny details and actually funny jokes, I can't even shitpost about it earnestly.

Bound to happen, but really unfortunate. These people are completely missing out. I love how much you can do in a single turn when you combine dashing and jumping mechanics. Dashing three enemies with Rabbid Peach and positioning everyone so Luigi can double jump across the entire map is so satisfying. And the fact that you can move, shoot, and use an ability in any order is great too, since you can set up two Overwatches and have them both triggered during your turn by forcing enemies to move via push or if they're those huge enemies that charge you when you attack them.

The combos in this game are just thrilling. I never expected a Mario/Rabbids crossover to be this good.

The rabbids aren't annoying like Minions have been lately, so their bad jokes aren't landing as poorly, and their good jooks are pretty on-point jabs at the mario characters, and especially popular opinion about them.

Basically, they're the main characters without the heroism, taken only at face value for their roles in the story. The rabbid Peach is a vapid girl who is selfish and vain. The rabbid Luigi is useless and a butt of every joke, and might be a dark lord of necromancy of some sort. The rabbid Mario is is a hillbilly stereotype, down to having a banjo, a down-to-earth everyman who solves problems with pure brute force distilled into a rabbit form.

This kind of shit is all over, too. They keep up the Mario style of pantomiming most of their actions and intents, although the fucking vroomba who talks gets annoying... Until in the third world where he sees Toad coming a mile away and immediately lays into him how they don't have time for his bullshit about getting lost and needing to find his SO again, they've done it twice already they're heroes they have shit to do.
