It not subtle or nuanced, but... it alright.
Genuinely one of my favorite PS2 platformers and definitely the only good post-Naughty Dog Crash game because it actually bothered to try something new without throwing the old stuff in the trash at the same time.

Digimon World. Tons of flaws, including a confusing digivolution system that isn't well explained in game, moves being hard to learn/obtain, and a plethora of glitches, but I can't help but replay it on a yearly basis. It's just too much fun anyways, and doing stuff like changing up which starting Digimon you have with cheats(Gabumon and Agumon are fine, but sometimes starting with something else is interesting) adds to its replayability. It just takes time to get used to.

Same. Was just about to post this.

The story is pretty bland, the combat is bad, and the game doesn't look pretty, but the unique world and some of the dialogue from the characters like Kang and Death's Hand is enough to keep me interested. I've played through it at least five times over the course of the last ten years. I received the Ultimate Edition as a present in 2008 and I still have it.

Too bad Bioware is owned by EA now, I think CD Projekt Red would do well with the property.

Combat isn't anything spectacular, story is pretty bland (the only thing I like character wise is Celebrimbor) but the Nemesis System is pretty dang fun to toy around with.

Still on the fence if I want to buy SoW or not.
