You know you can skip that section multiple ways, right?

If you hit the Speed Booster up there and jump at the circle, you should make it up past the platforms.

If you trigger the water, you can spindash-jump on the double helix to fly out of the water.

Kinda hard to explain but it's basically forced difficulty that's forced and isn't an accurate representation of skill. Am example would be this green star in Mario galaxy 2. This is difficult because missing the star means you doe and have to start the segment over again but it's also artificial difficulty because this area lacks depth perception and you can't really tell how far you need to juml to get the green star.

I understand the game was the first FPS made by this company and I'll give them credit for that. It is not bad by any means but their lack of experience shows. The final boss was pretty bad and a weird mix of artificial difficulty and a pushover.

>There are 3 invisible enemies with laser rifles and all 3 can get a cheap shot on you for massive damage
>Boss is being constantly healed by 2 enemies
>There is barely any cover for you to use
>Even at max health and armor the laser enemies alone will take away a lot of your health leaving you almost near dead

Eventually I found a way to kill the boss but having player lose 90% of their health at the beginning of a fight with no way to avoid this is the definition of unfair and artificial difficulty. Fun game though.

That's because if you hit him immediately after he drops he'll hit the floor before he hits the spike wall and for a hit to register he has to hit the spike wall directly. I'll give you that it looks close enough for a hit, but I assume the hurtbox resets after he touches the floor. Still, not a hard thing to adapt to.

Why does the metal sonic boss fight not get more shit?

The silver sonic part is annoying as shit. Sometimes he rocket thrusts instead of spindashing which just wastes time. Sometimes he disappears off screen when you hit him in spin dash instead of coming back down to give you another chance to hit him right. Sometimes he actually does come back down, but after another silver sonic has spawned.

The Silver Sonic part is easy as fuck, just spindash into him as soon as he starts a spindash from the center, otherwise jump him and wait for Metal Sonic to spawn another. I've never missed this way.

It's contingent on this right? Because just hitting him any time sometimes he'll hit metal sonic but most of the time he won't. Still not good boss design either way because this is cheese. I'd rather just have the chance to hit spinning silver sonic more often and it would be fine.

Yeah, its a flaw, but that alone may be the tamest example of artificial difficulty since its fucking easy to adapt to. You can still get two hits per spike wall and dodging his energy shots is not that hard.

Bullshit

In that one you have to gain way too much speed and as a result lose a ton of control which basically magnatizes your ass into the holes. Or because of the low amount of rings you can run out of those too.

Additionally since the game does its own little cute thing and tries to make it so you can only do a Special Ring once by saving when you win or lose,you've gotta either restart the game or keep pushing on in hopes you just git better at it. I've had an easier time getting even the damn Time Gems from CD.

Try jumping over the holes, also at mach 3 you drift on turns which gives you some control. The ufo will always take the shortest route also. There are a lot of giant rings hidden in the stages too

In a sense that's what's happening. The loop by itself is what's changing Sonic's direction, not the player input. If you have enough speed, Sonic will keep his forward momentum and go through the loop on his own without you needing to hold forward once you hit the incline.

Learn to turn while jumping. The turning arc and movement speed gets weird while you do that, but mastering it gives you another turning radius to play with, and might help on tighter turns.

Also, always cut corners where possible. And if all else fails, just keep trying over and over. Eventually you'll memorize it enough. That's how I got past the fifth stage

Yes, this is from sonic 2, but it's still valid to dodge being submerged since the location still exists in mania.

I've taken this path so many times in sonic 2 since I found it back in 94 that I completely forgot there was anything on the lower path. I sorta feel ashamed of myself for playing in such a linear way for so long.
