Yea, it's the best game this year and one of the best games of all time. It literally has no flaws except maybe the difficulty balancing (normal is too easy, hard is too hard). Basically, you can tell the trolls and retards who just come here to shitpost and don't actually like video games by the negative posts about this game.

Yes, you should, it's one of the best vidya experiences in god knows how many years. Mind that there's some technical issues, but there's a user-created mod to fix them.

Playing in previous Nier is not strictly necessary but you will miss a few allusions, mostly in side quests.

It's pretty good. I played every sidequest and near the end I got kind of tired of the game. The combat was enjoyable, and I thought the character customization was good.

You don't have to play Nier, but it will explain some plot elements that show themselves later on. Soundtrack is good, Story is interesting, combat is a mixed bag. Its flashy and looks cool, but its pretty shallow. Do NOT go in expecting DMC like some people have done. Its a solid game, I got it for 40 bucks and I think its worth full price. Also, I highly recommend you play the first, its really fucking good, even better than Automata in my opinion.

It's a lot of fun, the combat is pretty satisfying, the soundtrack is good, and the story is pretty enjoyable, particularly in the 3rd act when shit starts to get crazy.

The game suffers from a small budget, however, you will backtrack through some areas multiple times and the enemy variety could stand to be larger.

Still the best game I played this year, probably. If you thing a JRPG with slashing and shooting and a story that is like Wall-E, Final Fantasy and The Matrix mashed together you will have a great time.

You don't need to play the first NieR first, but Automata does take for granted some things that are either revelations or subtext in the first game so if you play Automata first then you can never really have the experience of playing NieR for the first time.

It's not necessary, but it does enhance Automata to some degree. Most of all though, Automata completely spoils the first Nier and the story/characters are pretty much the only reason to play it, bar music. If you ever plan on playing Nier, you should definitely play it before Automata.

It reminded me of MGSV. Open world game with shallow but enjoyable gameplay and a lot of copy-pasted fetch quests and grinding to pad out its length. Artstyle and music are cool, the story not so much.
Not a great game and not worth $40, but you could do far worse.
