You need to download the free Source SDK (2007, I think?) from Steam for it to work.

Nightmare House 2

Prologue chapter is an action movie meant to set up the plot. The original version was built on top of SMOD but has since been updated with Chapter 1's mechanics. The inventory system in particular is a bit clunky here.

Chapter 1 is closer to a survival horror with clear inspiration/stealing from PS1-era games. Start off with a pipe and a mean kick against zombies, end with the vehicle chase from MGS1 against the army. Plot has Kojima-level aspirations, and is about as confusing.

also, if you really want the survival aspect to come through play on Hard. Significantly reduces ammo/medkit spawns on top of the usual damage scaling.

Downfall (it's on Steam as a free mod), basically a standalone adventure in HL2 world, playing Gordon and helping resistance get their hands on some weapon that would help against the attack on the Citadel.

Underhell, which is heavily inspired by FEAR.

Half Life 2 Update
Which is basically officially Valve-endorsed Half Life 2 graphics mod, porting it to the Orange Box version of the engine, having tastefully updated textures (as in straight up autistic recreations of the originals in higher resolution, instead of being a generic texture pack), implemented HDR lighting and so on.
Basically brings HL2 in line with Episode 1 and Episode 2 in terms of visuals.
It's also on Steam btw.
