The device as a whole isn't actually that bad given the exclusives it actually does have and the option of taking shit like steins;gate on it. But the price of those overpriced little shits was just way too much
Anyways
>content manager

Memory cards. That said, I've gotten a fucking load of use out of mine and still have games preordered

1) Price. The system was too expensive at launch, especially with how expensive the memory cards are. If it had used normal SD cards that would have made a big difference, but the unit itself probably should have launched for $200 instead of $250. Even at the end of its lifespan Sony didn't lower the price.
2) Changing market demographics. Selling adults on a handheld system is very hard since most of them are willing to settle for shitty mobile games.
3) It should have had some kind of TV out option. Instead Sony made a separate device that no-one bought. It wouldn't have been that hard to give it an HDMI dock and the ability to sync with Dualshock 4 controllers.

Memory cards, mainly. We have an adapter now, so that's a nonissue.
