I'll never understand how anyone likes Warframe. Everything just instantly dies and adding players to your group makes it even more of a borefest. I liked everything about Warframe, except for the fact that everything just dies and there's no reason to play with other players. It's like if Phantasy Star Online allowed you to just one shot everything by yourself and bosses lasted 10 seconds.

I played it for 20 hours, even Monster Hunter gets fun with that amount of time invested.

Path of Exile is a completely different game and I'm going to play Destiny 2 on the PS4 and Path of Exile on the One X as my grinding games this year while I wait for Mario Odyssey.

I like to think of it like Hearthstone. A full time player can play the game and earn packs at a pretty decent rate, or you can just buy packs and earn the same rewards all up front. Nothing is out of your reach whichever way you decide, and theres nothing in that pool of rewards that you can't get in-game if you don't buy any orbs.

Its emotes and some mods and everyone's acting like its Black Desert or any other MMO levels of pay to win. Its menial, its nothing.

That being said they still didn't fix the content droughts for this game and that is reason enough not to buy it on a system that requires you to pay 10 bucks for online activities while there's actually nothing to do yet except resource grind like vanilla destiny1. Alright so should I buy this game on PC or not?

I played a bit of the beta and thought the PVP was cool. If I just want to play vs mode should I bother with this game or do I also have to grind tons of hours for single player campaign loot? Never played Destiny 1 btw.

Can someone explain something about the pvp

When I fell for the destiny meme and enjoyed the singleplayer corent fairly enough (in the way I'd get obsessed with pic mmorpgs and iPhone games) I despised the pvp aspect of this game.

My experience with shooter multiplayer games goes from cod, battlefield, TF2 and recently R6 Siege and overwatch (laugh at my tastes all you want, hahaha) and I've had considerably a better time on these types of multiplayer games than destiny where I felt utterly useless drm the guns I used to even begin able to get to the special/heavy ammo crates on time or better yet, get them but than immeadyely het shot in the back and lose my ammo.

So tell, why. Why do people enjoy this aspect of destiny?

I almost never do this and I didn't with this game. Anyone swept up by the hype deserves to be disappointed. My friends got this way with the Division as well which I also skipped and saved some money on. After playing the beta I knew this game was going to be trash. Even if it had 500 strike missions I already knew the base mechanics weren't interesting to me. Never let yourself get swept up by peer hype. Always approach shit in a vacuum and see if it's what you want.

See, I had this conversation with my buddy when he compared WoW and Destiny 2. I think the major difference is that in WoW and other similar MMOs and grinding games you don't grind just to grind more. You grind so that you can fight the more exotic and exciting bosses when they come out. In Destiny, Diablo, and other loot lust games you grind just to see bigger numbers. Bosses are just number gates that you can muscle through, not with mechanics, but with higher numbers on your gear. So you end up grinding just to grind more instead of grinding to experience more interesting fights.

People enjoy the PVP in Destiny not just because it's semi-competitive, but it's a throwback to Halo for a lot of the playerbase. Unfortunately one of the biggest problems with the PVP aspect is how powerful the meta is at any given time. You either use the OP loadouts or you lose, simple as that. And it takes ages to get anything balanced for some goddamn reason.

When I left it last year it seemed to be in a pretty good place, but it took a lot of growing pain to get there. D2 PVP out of the gate is going to be the best. Once people start getting the good drops and finding the best loadouts the crucible is going to be a shithole until the first patch.

D1 pvp in year 1 was simply godlike. It didn't have the most balance, but it was fast and loose and had tons of opportunity for creative play with the different movement and abilities. They subsequently ruined all of this and d2 is just another step massive back. D2 pvp is slow moving with limited options and longer ttk with primaries and less availability of power weapons.

That's the point. Destiny, The Division, (soon) Anthem and (vaguely) Warframe are all part of the same overarching "multiplayer looter shooter" subgenre, which is generally summarized as "Diablo except a FPS/TPS". They also make an effort to smudge the MMO line and have more emphasis on multiplayer, hence why they're in a different class compared to the original looter shooter, Borderlands.

no its not. d2 skill gap is way more narrow than d1 because of this. a good player who uses their movement will almost never be optimally killed, except by a skilled opponent. the ttk was low in d1 if you could land shots or get a drop, not so much if the other player moves well. d2 the guns are relative pea shooters so they had to slow movement down and nerf abilities across the board which kills all the fun. d1 primaries are shit now too and look how much ability spam there is. d2 does right to curb abilities in power, but they are too infrequent now. im ok with 1 super/game, but everything else needs to come back faster and primaries need to go back to being lethal along with an increase the effectiveness of movement abilities. they would rather cater to overwatch fags though, so itll never happen

Diablo 3 has a whole game to grind, adjustable difficulty and crazy builds to play around with. Destiny has 5 missions (which are each about as long as a diablo mission), the difficulty doesn't change after you hit level cap in the first week and build experimentation, if you could even call it that, is weak as fuck.

And that "this one is actually fun to play" is subjective as hell, especially considering the builds and class differences in Diablo. Destiny is pretty much just shootin shit with the occasional tame ability here and there. What you see in the first hour or so is what you get. First week might be more fun in Destiny but Destiny is (erroneously) built to be played longer than a week.

Yeah i agree with most of what you said but Bungie has been saying adamantly that alot of those things, like slower ability recharge, and weapon balancing will be fixed by the weapon and armor mod system. not to mention the armor leveling system that will be returning from D1

Preordered it last minute because I am a massive loot whore, and nothing that I haven't already played is in near future except this.

Bought the original one when the Taken King came out, I was immiedetly hooked for it for a ywar until finally interest vanished. Then The Division free weekend came along, and I poured 50 hours in 3 days into it and it rekindled lost loot whore in me.
