Portal was actually the very first "real" pc game I played, i had been exclusively a console player before that. When you escape GlaDoS for the first time jumping out of the firepit and you can hear her slightly paniced voice echo through the halls that she still knows where you are is still one of my most memorable vidya moments

Replayed Portal 2 last Sunday. God damn the atmosphere is incredible.
Every room is tun down and the ppace fets cleaner as you progress, and then ypu go to the old test areas and hear JK Simmons over the speaker talking about the financial problems. And then that trophy case with the runner up awards for science, obviously meaning that Black Mesa was getting first place all the time.
Shit what a great way of story telling, and the gameplay was fucking great too.

I was able to do the same and it was a great experience right up until the road to Asgore the first time where they decide to force the backstory down your throat in the most inorganic way.

Yeah the good boss sucked though. I like happy endings so I let that slide, but not being able to lose or even be set back on death there is just dumb. I understand why it couldn't work for the neutral boss but surely they could have done something to make losing on that boss restart the fight at least.
