I think a problem with Hearthstone/Overwatch right now is not necessarily that f2p is too stingy, but that the value you get from purchasing packs/chests with real money is too small. I honestly want to give Blizz money, I play these games a lot and feel they deserve to be paid for that. However, I don't spend money because I feel the value is just not there. Especially at the $10 or $20 price point (psychologically, $50 is too much) there is no point to purchase packs/chests. Something like the a power up for weapons (like McCree does DoT dmg + normale dmg) /Welcome Bundle that happened for every set, I'd buy that in a flash. So please, give me a good reason to give you money, Blizz!

overwatch is fucking cancer sage, also check'em
Every F2P game does this though. They make it so that if you spend money, you get barely anything out of it. It is all in an attempt to get people to be whales. I am guessing it is more profitable to have the minority whale a game than the majority put a little into it, but i have no idea.
overwatch isn't f2p though, the fact that people pay them on top of that for more boxes is fucking retarded
I agree however about Hearthstone/HotS and similar games, a single purchase's power is very low, you don't get much for your money. $10 for a single hero. $3 for two packs of five cards. Nah.
