Kotor 1 was boring good vs evil black and white George Lucas generic storytelling. Kotor 2 was grey and therefore much more engaging especially with all the complex characters who have all been broken by past events. It's too bad Obsidian got publisher fucked like usual.

Kotor 1 is still a great game, it just doesn't take storytelling risks. It's like marvel movies, you can guess the entire plot before you walk in the theater, people are there for the action sequences and goofy comic relief.
