If Nintendo didn't exist would there be any market for video games in North America today?

I firmly believe that video games would only exist in Europe, Japan and Brazil but not North America. No one would make video games for North America because the market would have been permanently dead and it was only the providence of Nintendo that brought it back to life.

PC gaming would have been VERY different (NES was a HUGE influence on 90s PC gaming, most people don't know that), but it still would have grown and eventually gotten somewhat popular.

So America would have ended up like kolea, i.e. only playing PC games. Consoles would have become something only popular in Japan.
