Pokemon is particularly bad because there's always going to be that group of 'more pokemon is better' faggots who will eat up any new filler monsters that add nothing to the game or non-intuitive breeding mechanics they think up.

Halo is Avery good example of this. after 3 things went downhill. ODST was a fantastic atmospheric game but lacked basically everything else. Reach had a great forge mode and great armor customization, but the desaturated graphics looked so dull and overall the gameplay felt more CoD-ish. However I still say reach is good simply due to custom games and the fun I had with it, but 3 was overall a better package . We don't talk about 4 or 5, fuck 343
