The only thing I thought Rance VII did better was the gameplay. I can't take the characters and story seriously when 90% of the dialogue is that really weird Alicesoft """"comedy"""" where characters just spout seemingly random shit where the joke is nearly always "the cute girl said something weird lmao!!". Then suddenly the story tries to become serious but it's a really low effort thing because everyone has two sprites and there's no voice acting, so it's hard to get your brain to perceive that scene any differently from the one where a cute loli called MEGADETH LOOOOOOL says something really crass because XDDD. Also, despite the series in general having some fucking top tier tracks, everything that's not an h-scene or a climactic battle gets what might as well be stock RPG Maker music, which doesn't help you take those scenes any more seriously at all.
