The only good part of Doom's soundtrack is the ambient soundtrack that plays when there's no combat. I wish these themes were fleshed out a little more and there was no awful "battle music"

Meh, I never noticed this much variation in Doom's ingame music, at least not 50, not anywhere near.
There's just one track per combat state, some effects applied over it when doing a glory kill, and that's pretty much it.

That's not even on the level of Zone of the Enders 1's dynamic music.

I liked it. I wasn't looking for some great, orchestra-like direction with the music. It does well by being the thing that pumps you up while killing. I'm not even a big of a fan of djent, but the weird djent-industrial mix worked fucking wonders.
