I was annoyed by the various nerfs in Yakuza 0 but it wasn't so bad
Yakuza Kiwami on the other hand was terrible
what they were trying to do was force you to switch styles mid-combat for best results but they did that by making the different fighting styles worse
beast mode has you doing slow powerful attacks that you charge up to do more damage, what this means is if you don't charge your attacks you'll be doing less damage than the default style, and unless you have enough meter you will find all your attacks interrupted. a problem though is that if you get hit during your super armor you still lose meter, and once it goes down enough you'll get knocked on your ass trying to attack. you don't gain meter quickly enough in this fighting style so you have to switch to another one. beast mode also has a guard that blocks attacks from all directions unlike the others but you take chip damage. you can find yourself guarding against enemy attacks and unable to escape because once you stop guarding you'll get knocked off your feet. you do have a counter attack you can use while guarding but that costs meter and one of the nerfs they did was that guarding doesn't give you meter in this mode anymore so you're shit out of luck.

If you want to recommendation for something nice and probably not much talked about, I recommend taking a ride with 都電荒川線 (Toden Arakawa Line). It's a tram/light train line that takes you through various parts of Tokyo. Cheap as shit too, one ride was like 140 yen if I remember correctly.
