It fits with the theme of the inevitability of fate and how sometimes things that happen are completely beyond your power to stop or even affect at all, but if that's a theme you're going for then making it a game based around your choices having an impact doesn't make much sense. I appreciated what this game tried to do but it didn't go far enough or do well enough on the things it did do. It's the perfect medium for the kind of themes they wanted to explore but they just finished halfway at a movie game rather than going all the way and making something truly special which is unfortunate.

I can confirm that literally game's system cucks Warren. Let's say you did all of those Warren choices and also Chloe, Chloe wins since game only takes her seriously as romance/love route.
Even if you don't do Chloe choices, game still leaves the door open for it and mc still questions her feelings.

I want to add, no matter you influence character she's not so blank-slate and gets those feelings eventually.I mean like I said, I made every warren choices and neglected Chloe's actions (though she was still obsessed with her and got jelly in her nightmare over her being with other people) and she was questioning her feelings for Chloe by bringing up Love word. Her feelings were developing throughout in game,but if you encouraged her enough those feelings becomes less fuzzy about blue haired girl.So yeah game's system makes those girl's 'romance' relationship more deep,canon even if lots of people missed the details.

Finished LiS the other day and the ending is shit, theres no two ways about it. The arguement that the ending is replicating how powerless you are to fate makes no sense when the whole game is about rewinding time.The fact that the devs made Max's powers stop working when trying to save Kate from killing herself shows how they knew most players would just rewind time till they got they stringed together the right dialouge choices to save her, which is what I did to not kill Frank when asking him for help. If Max had a limit on how many times she can rewind in a short period of time the fate arguement would have more weight but it just doesn't make sense.

TWD season 1 has a same predetermined ending but in that game at least you saw the repercussions your minor actions had on the world. Decide to not give Duck rations? Kenny gives you shit for it, causally swear around Clem? She casually swears too. These are the only examples I can think of off the top of my head but I'm certain there are way more examples. In LiS shit like trying your hardest to warn Victoria about Nathan still has her be kidnapped regardless of whether you warn her or not which makes makes the choice meaningless entirely.

And the ending I picked where I sacrificed Arcadia bay was so bad in of itself. The game built up the storm to be the Armageddon with freak snowstorms, eclipses and double moons with it just turning out to be your run of the mill hurricane with property being damaged. Then Chole and Max just ridding of the sunset without checking on anyone, without saying a word of dialouge was the cherry on top of this shit cake of the ending. In a game so heavily focused om relationships you'd think that closure would be one of the things the ending had but its just absent


I'd be lying if i said that i didn't enjoy the game but the ending just soured the game for me and made me feel as if i wasted my time.

As a game, the gameplay is dry and bland but that wouldn't be too bad if the story weren't so shite. Narratively, the writing is all over the place, characters' motives don't really make sense, Chloe is a manipulative and unlikable cunt but not intentionally for story purposes. You're supposed to like her but she just comes off as really bratty, stupid and annoying.

The dialogue is pretty bad but I don't live in America so I can't comment on it's accuracy. It's pretty irritating nonetheless though, and it makes everyone sound like a dumb cunt. It sounds as if the writers were writing for a setting they weren't familiar with, so everything comes off as cheesy. Just my thoughts though, I could be wrong on all of that. That's just my thoughts on the general language being used, though. Some of the actual dialogue is pretty bad, kinda reminded me of soap operas. And I know it wanted to be Twin Peaks really badly, but fuck me it sure failed at that.

Back to gameplay, there's really not much to say about it. It just plays like a 3D point and click most of the time. Whenever you're not in a talking scenario or cutscene, you're going to pick something up or looking inquisitively at something like in the TellTale games. They're pretty much exactly the same. The talking segments can be just as inconsistent as those games as well, and it kinda reminded me of the backlash Fallout 4 got just for how shitty the dialogue wheel was in that game.

But yeah, choices don't really amount to anything. You can say they weren't meant to, but that doesn't mean it's not shittily designed. They could've tried to tie multiple things together into one big ending or just not have so many inconsequential choices in the first place, but instead they chose the lazy ultimatum route. Not even a good ultimatum, at that.

See this is the funny thing though, where ones "gameplay mechanics" end is where another anons opinion begins. For example; life is strange is not COMPLETLEY without gameplay, it has the time rewind and some mild puzzles with heavy narrative to pack it out. NOW, i love Persona 4 and Final fantasy VII and IX but a lot of my friends who play action games look at this stat management shit, with "i poke you, you poke me" combat and HOURS of dialouge cutscenes and have all bluntly said "these are not fucking games" it doesn't matter that i explain that it does because the little gameplay that these JRPGs have simply do not qualify as "actual gameplay" in their eyes and they are convinced of it, much like you are about LiS. I mean, would you play 80 hours of Persona 4 id it had nor dialouge , cutscenes, narrative or social link? And was just objective gameplay via the dungeon crawl, loot and fusing system? I know i fucking wouldn't, what a bore that would be.

FUCKING GAMEBOOKS MADE IN THE PREVIOUS CENTURY HAVE MULTIPLE, WILDLY DIFFERENT ENDINGS, in fact, in some gamebooks it's actually hard to get to all of them without cheating and just looking for them page by page.

imagine going to the last page of a fighting fantasy gamebook and just having it say "to choose ending A, go to page 101, to go to ending B, go to page 102"
