More news at 10. Least Sony knows better than to pull that shit when their PSN Roms were dogshit.

Here's the whole interview if you care.
https://archive.is/IORsz
>Emulation and ROMs are a legally tricky subject for game companies, particularly with big ones like Nintendo. Have you ever received any notices from them?
>This is a strange question to answer because most of the time, I rarely ever receive any direct notices. For some reason, the likes of Nintendo always like to get in touch with the server hosting company. There used to be an organization back in the early 00s called the IDSA (Interactive Digital Software Association) that contacted our host and got us shut down multiple times through several years. Then, it was replaced by the ESA. The ESA still sends the DMCA odd take-down notice and I comply with their notices in removing content. Sometimes they threaten our host and if the host gets scared… again we move. So basically there’s a cat and mouse game of moving the site from server to server to keep it up. Unfortunately, this still goes on and it’s quite a daunting task because of the amount of data and stuff that needs to keep moving.

Because having your site shut down and sued to hell and back by nintendo's suits in a case you WILL lose and IS cut and dry copyright infringement is a much less appealing option than just taking down a handful of nintendo roms/isos, and compilation packs. He still makes ad money from every other game still up. He'd have to be retarded to live 5 days with every game than 5 years without nintendo games.

Because the people working on it never actually cared.
They sold a lie that it's impossible and only cared to emulate the famous games.
That's why no one wants to make a new emulator for it anymore. It runs Zelda and Banjo so they don't care.

PS2 is away more complicated, yet the emulation is really good.

>>389326479
because PJ64 held their source code hostage for years, and people paid literal money to play games on it since it was furthest along. It disillusioned other devs that people would help if they made progress, so they stopped. PJ64 saw there was no competition, they stopped working on it, people complained, they didn't work cause no one was threatening their money train. Seriously that shit happened in the mid 2000s, I don't think there's been a legitimate update from the PJ64 team in almost a decade. That leeroy jenkins crack version of 1.7 was by far the most compatible, smoothest running version I ever found.

Unless of course that that argument is that something is at least possible.

Dealing in absolutes one way or another is a stupid way to approach anything, and this should demonstrate why to you.

Hell, a little bit of research in to how many people torrent vs number of suits filed against downloaders alone would show you that it's a super small minority of people who get caught and punished.
>>
>>389328668
If you run in software mode it will probably works without any bugs in 99,99% of the times.
Some oddball here and there will fuck up, but the same oddball will break in the PS3 too so it's like black magic or some shit.

There's even a lot progress being made in the hardware mode and the bugs are being fixed each day.
It still may take a while because they ignored the hardware mode for literaly years. But they are working on it.

Project64, like a anon said earlier, was a money grab scheme. It's one of the worst emulator ever made.

I had a collection of everything that could be emulated. I deleted it because who the fuck cares? I've played everything on the real hardware to completion that I cared about. I did the same with emulators over the years... This is normie tier shit now that the nu-gamers are in to to virtue signal that they are hardcore while replaying "the classics" meaning the most popular shit.

If you can't source basic shit like ROMs get the fuck off the internet you turbo faggot. Any old game that matters has been released again and again in more often than not improved versions. That's bullshit, over the past few days I've completed ace combat 4, 5 and 0 in software mode at full speed. Literally everything I've thrown at pcsx2 works perfectly in software mode, even really obscure shit.
What REALLY sucks is dreamcast emulation, it's like no one gives a fuck anymore, we have perfect saturn emulation now but DC is still a nightmare.
>>
>>389325756
Just Nintendo? I'll live. I thought the whole site went down. That would have been awful.
>>
>>389347980
This. I honestly wouldn't mind paying for games at a reasonable price and with good emulation but Nintendo is clearly doing their best to be as much of a fucking dickhead as possible. Sony's PS1 games are the holy grail that everyone should adhere to; one purchase across two platforms, plus Vita which emulates PSP, emulation is near-perfect, and games range from $6 to $10, tops. Meanwhile, Nintendo is selling NES for $5, SNES for $7, and N64 for $10, AND purchases are tied to that specific console and would need to be repurchased on other platforms. They're treating their customers like fucking animals. I don't like that PS4 has dropped all emulation, even for downloads, and I'm really hoping that PS5 gets back to it. At least Microsoft hasn't dropped the ball on that front.

To be fair, the Dreamcast console has worthless piracy protection. Simply burn an .ISO onto a 700mb music CD (they're like $5 for 50 at any drugstore) and put it in your Dreamcast. It's not always perfect (my burned copy of Crazy Taxi isn't quite as quick as my legit copy) but it's still really, really good.

Originally, people needed a work around, like swapping one disc for another to get burned copies to work, but nowdays pretty much every single Dreamcast .ISO should have that piracy loophole built in. Believe me, I'm a retard with this shit and it's still incredibly fucking easy to do. It's one of the main reasons why I highly recommend a Dreamcast for budget gaming because you pretty much have the whole library at your fingertips.

Now, all that being said, emulation is still very important because all physical hardware will rot away eventually. For now, though, playing Dreamcast is easy.
>>
>>389349225
Good luck with a working Dreamcast though.
I never owned one but all my friend's and cousin's Dreamcasts all died.

I actually have two dreamcasts i just can't be bothered hooking either of them up. Well that and they're in storage. I'm a lazy motherfucker and that's why I love emulation.
Plus DC piracy is kind of shit since the games have to have stuff ripped/compressed to fit on 700MB CD-Rs. And yeah I remember having to swap discs before groups started making selfboot releases I even have a utopia bootdisc from like 2000 that's still kinda useful for playing my legit copy of cosmic smash due to the region lock.

>I honestly wouldn't mind paying for games at a reasonable price and with good emulation
I would. 20 year old games should be in the fucking public domain, not jealously horded away or in copyright limbo because Disney kikes want to exclusively profit off Mickey Mouse for all eternity.

Maybe a silly question but if I wanted to transfer all of my emulation files including exe, game files, patches, fixes, etc. I've done to some of the games, is it as simple as cutting and pasting to the new drive, or am I going to have to mess with file paths once it's all moved? Mostly concerned about dolphin and pcsx2 as I have some HD texture packs and interface fixes for some of my games.
