To this day I still don't get what the fuss was about, Aerith/Aeris was worst girl who fought with a fucking umbrella (never go full retard) or some shit and had absolutely zero appeal, then goes off and does something she knows will get her killed and dies for it.

If anything I was glad that for once in a story the character doing something retarded actually had consequences rather than it all working out somehow in the end.

Because you were mentally 12 years old when you played it.

I assumed it was there in case she fucks up a throw and her magically returning shuriken risks chopping her arm off. So it's kinda like armour to protect her from herself.
