Zelda's timeline is mostly made by curtains and bullshit anyways. It isn't constructed in any meaningful way in the games themselves. Each games more-or-less just creates its own story, uses some vague "lore" if it wasn't to reference other games, and basically just ignores everything else.

Hell, the fact that Wind Waker exists, and that games somehow take place after Wind Waker, should highlight just how screwy the whole timeline is.
