What the hell are you doing? You're literally paying for a license to play something on a service that probably won't even exist in 20 years. The only acceptable service for digital purchases is steam.
>>389318614
why? what's the difference?
>>389318614
Sales. Otherwise, physical all the way
>>389318614
I only buy digital stuff that is not available physical like the PSP and PS games in PSN. Otherwise physical all the way.

I don't think backwards compatibility will be a problem from here out since none of the hardware is anything exotic like past gens
Digital games are cheap on sale
All physical games require a full game install onto the HDD for both the current gen consoles, so physical games have less of an advantage than previously
>>389318614
what games allow me to dab?

FU-DAB-A
Everything you said applies to all digital games, including steam

uncharted 4
>>389318614
on the contrary
you physical disk wont available in 20 years, but for digital copy will be 100 years
>>389319394
If you keep your discs in good condition they'll last longer than the online services. PSP online store is already shut down.

This.
Arkham Knight is still like 20 bucks used, if I can find it. I got the premium edition for 16 bucks awhile back month during a xbox saleshut up, and got $150 worth of extra content from it, instead of getting jewed on buying having to buy everything normally.
>>389318614
aaaaaand your vape.
>>389319473
if you keep your system in good condition, you wont need to redownload the game because of a faulty HDD.
You have 4 choices
1. Take your lazy ass to a store that sells games while constantly feeling self conscious about how you look to other people. Probably have to waste more gas or bus fare to go to a different store if they ran out
2. Purchase a physical copy online + shipping and tax fees and wait a few days for the copy to arrive
3. Send someone out to get the physical copy for you with a chance they might bring the wrong thing back
4. Purchase the game digitally with no hassle besides worrying about if you have enough space to download it and shorter waiting time
>>389318614
i only buy drm free pc games from GOG
i install them via gog galaxy, then go back to gog website and download all the installers in all the languages i need to disk so theyre mine forever
that said, with patches being bigger than the game on console disk itself, current gen consoles and their disks will be unplayable in about 10 years once all those servers go down and you can no longer update an xbox one or download a patch for a game
If I still care about a game in 20 years and don't have the ability to rebuy it on a whim I should probably kill myself
>>389319280
Doom 4 multiplayer
>>389318614
What if the game's digital only and there's no physical release?
By the time those services get shut off the games will be emulated anyway

Who's this cute boy(male)?
>>389320138
it better be a self contained DRM free installer that doesnt rely on any outbound internet connection to modify or affect the gameplay in any way
>>389318614
I don't unless it's free. My Xbox One came with Unity and Black Flag so I used them. I got a Xbox gift card so I just bought Minecraft for my xbox one since I wanted to give it a shot. Or I am situations where I have to like Yakuza 5 is only digital only in USA for PS3. or how I couldn't find a copy of Gravity Rush Remastered so I bought it digital then I bought it 6 months later off ebay for 75 bucks physically.
>>389319473
>PSP online store shut down
I just bought a game on there last month, what do you mean?
>>389319186
This.
At worst we'll have to pay for repairs, which wouldn't be worse than $100 every couple of years.
>>389321710
You can't go to it on the PSP itself, you have to go through the browser and install through the PS3.
>>389318614
why post an image of one of the most acceptable games to buy digitally? I wish I would've bought Splatoon 2 digitally so I wouldn't have to constantly switch out games
>>389320005
They will probably change something in the backend by the end of the gen to fix that.
>>389318614
>oh no, i can't play a game 20 years from now that will be $2 on eBay when i want to play it again
>so instead let me hold on to this piece of shit outdated physical disc and pretend like i'm going to actually keep it and the console for 20 years when i want to play the game again

Steam is not acceptable
>>389318614
tfw no futaba 3D smelly neet cute gf
Buying digital fucking blows mostly because you can't get any kind of return if you absolutely hate the game unless it's on Steam. If you beat a game and didnt like it enough to keep it around or have no incentive to ever touch it again, it just sits there. With physical you can at least get about a 50% or more monetary return depending on the game and no I don't mean ripping yourself off at GameStop.
>>389321783
You still have access to all the PSP games you've purchased. You can also access them with a PC.

>>389318614
Most simply, where I live digital download is available to play anywhere from half a day to a day or two before I could physically get it.

if I'm taking my handheld consoles out and playing on public transport, the last thing I need is to have to reach into my bag and fish out a cart. Digital is way more convenient. I still buy carts sometimes if they're a good price. Vita games especially.

Whatever helps you sleep at night, consolefag
It's why I usually wait to get a physical version, even if it costs more (see: DMC4 Special Edition, pretty much anything from Limited Run Games, etc). I want to know I own the game physically so I'm not basically in possession of a ticking time bomb. Games like Capcom's JoJo port and the Scott Pilgrim beat em up should've served as cautionary tales
