This is a decent excuse in my eyes, maybe even a combination of other reasons I failed to mention
Were it only made known to us, I myself would be satisfied with the response along with a significant part of the fanbase
Even if the reasoning were that it should work flawlessly in VR, as someone who does not yet own VR hardware or a capable machine I would not feel as upset as you may think
My hopes:The most remote acknowledgement of your oldest series, that shaped your company into what it is today

It's dead. The myth of Half Life 3 or Episode 3 or whatever you want to call it has been killed. The idea has been abandoned by Valve and over the years, it will be forgotten by the gaming community, remembered in occasional passing as a 'What could have been' or 'If only', until Gaben has died and we remain on /v/ in our winter years.

Half life will get a sequel eventually, it is too prominent not to get revisited in the future. The sad part is that it's far enough away that anyone who is a current fan of HL will be a different person when it comes out.

I know they have a movie or two in the pipeline but I wonder if JJ will lose interest over time.
I wouldn't be all too surprised if they've kept him 100% in the dark about their plans for the movie(s)

It could be all OC donut steel or a kind of HL1 movie adaption, maybe from the perspective of someone else just trying to survive.
Until I know more, I can't get excited for it
My personal hope is a survivor of Black Mesa on his way out of the facility adapting to survive, finally escaping and having the viewer enjoy in the relief from the character narrowly surviving something totally FUBARonly for the combine to show up and ruin that relief, roll credits
