I have reason to believe someone at valve will read this, though maybe not past this line
Hell, maybe even a few people, I have no reason to believe valve employees stay away from this site, this board in particular
I ask what comes next for the fanbase?
More silence?
A possible leak from the late 2000's EP3 build?
Maybe a valve employee using the words 'next' and 'Half-Life' in the same sentence?
I have a minor suggestion, if you'd be so inclined to listen to a long-time fan.
Come out and say
>we have chosen not to continue the adventures of Gordon Freeman
or
>fans have not seen the end of Gordon Freeman and his plight
I do not desire direct evidence of the game
Just your word
One word would do for that matter, truly
>can't live up to the hype?
Disregard the nit-pickers, you guys can work real magic and you know this
>not worth it to make?
Besides tons of guaranteed sales, good PR would come of it along with a revival of modding and discussion
>the tech just isn't there to create what you'd like?
This is a decent excuse in my eyes, maybe even a combination of other reasons I failed to mention
Were it only made known to us, I myself would be satisfied with the response along with a significant part of the fanbase
Even if the reasoning were that it should work flawlessly in VR, as someone who does not yet own VR hardware or a capable machine I would not feel as upset as you may think
My hopes:The most remote acknowledgement of your oldest series, that shaped your company into what it is today
My fears:Silence.............yet again.......
Sincerely,
A Concerned Citizen λ

It's over
they aren't touching the subject anymore
they literally have no reason to make the game, Gabe sees how shit the gaming community is since he made it that way. No matter what they put out it will be considered "biggest disappointment of 20XX"
>>389299323
Why do people keep saying this. Valve already stated that they are currently working on 3 titles and all have singeplayer.
I suppose I should say Half-Life discussion too
I'm digging it
>>389299113
>>389299420
>Valve
>a hardware company
>making video games
Great fucking joke dude.
>>389299420
I really truly am looking forward to what they are making, even if they are all new IP's
Even if the shitposting around here doesn't show it, other people are eager as fuck to see what valve is up to
It's dead. The myth of Half Life 3 or Episode 3 or whatever you want to call it has been killed. The idea has been abandoned by Valve and over the years, it will be forgotten by the gaming community, remembered in occasional passing as a 'What could have been' or 'If only', until Gaben has died and we remain on /v/ in our winter years.
Tears in the rain.

Yeah dude, we're all HYPED AS FUCK FOR THE DOTA 2 CARD GAME
>>389299113
I just want Shephard back ;_;
>>389299726
I was under the impression that Artifact was not one of those games
I am NOT a card game kind of guy but I will at least see what it looks like in the event I like what I see, not too hopeful though
>>389299873
I wouldn't mind seeing him brought back in the form of a Half-Life game but far more action-based somewhat like DOOM
>>389299873
He already got 3 games in the Mass Effect universe, he's had enough exposure faggot.
do you people not know valve is working on a movie?
>>389300182
Oh god no
>inb4 that Elba guy playing Gordon
>>389300306
Elba could be good for Eli Vance, actually
Half life will get a sequel eventually, it is too prominent not to get revisited in the future. The sad part is that it's far enough away that anyone who is a current fan of HL will be a different person when it comes out.
>>389300306
Hey, ar least J.J is perfect for the GMan role
>>389300412

Wanted to post this. Unfortunately he is too old now
>>389300650
think again
>>389300182
I know they have a movie or two in the pipeline but I wonder if JJ will lose interest over time.
I wouldn't be all too surprised if they've kept him 100% in the dark about their plans for the movie(s)
I have no idea what the movie could be about
>time
>location
>characters
It could be all OC donut steel or a kind of HL1 movie adaption, maybe from the perspective of someone else just trying to survive.
Until I know more, I can't get excited for it
My personal hope is a survivor of Black Mesa on his way out of the facility adapting to survive, finally escaping and having the viewer enjoy in the relief from the character narrowly surviving something totally FUBARonly for the combine to show up and ruin that relief, roll credits
A man can dream
>>389300650
Badda bing badda boom. ashes
>stop the self destruct sequence
>go back in time and stop the experiment from Half-Life 1 from happening
>bring a group of vortigaunts you to prevent any of G-Man's meddling
>give Borealis to government or Black Mesa or whatever so they can research it and be able to defend themselves if the Combine do show up eventually
I know this thread wasn't really about how to end it, but I had this on my mind for a while and wanted to see if anyone could find any flaws in this plan
>>389299113
>Maybe a valve employee using the words 'next' and 'Half-Life' in the same sentence? Now announcing Half-Life: Next availible for android and ios later this year
>>389301093
It works, I just think it's way too much of a feel-good ending
Also when backwards time-travel is implemented to negate future stories, I personally think it takes away the seriousness and gravity of the later games
>>389301195
Hey its something
>>389300467
Oh shit, I stand corrected.
>>389300467
I will be sad when he leaves us
