What's the appeal of this franchise?

the music and characters. i wish FF had good gameplay.

They used to have great art, music, characters, and stories.

Now they don't and people are waiting for the magic to be recaptured. It won't be.

The first 7 were pretty reputable RPGs, especially for their times. Everything afterwards has had mixed success and mostly only rode off the success of the Final Fantasy name.

Every entry prior to 12 had more positive than negative aspects to them. The only ones that are heavily debatable on both sides prior are 2 and 11.

11 and prior had good stories, classes, side quests and a sense of wonder you can't get in later entries.

It's really odd but the most FF game to come out in the past 7~ years has been Lost Odyssey.
