If you sell a million controllers, a few of them are going to be faulty. I can buy the idea that I might have to replace the bumpers at some point because they feel a little flimsy, but the idea that the analog sticks are just going to fall apart is crazy.

>>
>>389286216
The warranty is shit, only 90 days. If you want this, best bet is to buy it from Best Buy and get their extended warranty for 2 years, I think it's $20. Heard Microsoft was aware of the criticism and now allows 1 free exchange but don't quote me on that
>>
>>389286216
>bullshit post
Why? that doesn't change the fact it broke after three months.
>>
>>389286216
Not him, but I own one. Shit broke within the warranty period (90 days for a $150 shitbox). Like all things xbox, the support site doesn't work. 90% of the error codes I've punched in over the course of owning the bone never register on the site, like they don't exist. But getting back on track, the elite controller uses the same shitty bumper design that can break under normal use at any time. The rubber grips fall off after a month. The sticks still wear out super fucking fast. Playing skate on the controller means your magnetically held sticks fly off, and sometimes the weight of the stick itself will give a false input (they didn't respring the fucking thing to compensate for heavier sticks).

Thing's a shitshow, but I guess all the one controllers are shit, and will need to be maintained near-constantly.

I love Crowbcat but holy fuck his videos encourage cancerous faggotry. This is a sample size of maybe 30-50? Every piece of technology has defective units. When I was researching parts for a PC build every single part I would research for hours on end had at least 10 negative reviews minimum. Not one had perfect average score. There's always those couple of people that get defective units. Two of my Xbox 360 pads began to get shitty drift on the left stick and most people say those are the "best."
>>
>>389290067
So basically unless the product personally shits out on you, it's a great product. Talk about works on my machine.
>>
>>389290067
Also some of my PS3 controllers and Gamecube controllers have had their grips wear out really fucking fast.
>>389290251
Isn't that literally the same mentality in reverse? If it shits out on you then it's garbage? Look up any controller on Amazon and read reviews. There's always negative reviews with common issues like stick drift and shitty bumpers. I'm just saying, the sample size is insanely small. It's not like the RROD that was a widespread issue.
>>
>>389288874
Makes some motions way faster like instant 360s and charge moves. I just use a stick so I don't care, but some people at the highest levels are switching to it. It's all a preference thing really, especially for people who play on keyboard.
>>
>>389290067
>Ignore bad reviews, guys! Surely YOUR purchase won't be defective, because ???

If someone sees that their $150 purchase might net them a faulty controller, and decide not to buy as a result, how the fuck is that 'cancerous'? The only reason you should care is if you're actually trying to sell the fucking things yourself.

Well if it's a biased video intentionally listing only the negative results then yeah, i would say it's fair to ignore it. It's cool for shits and giggles but not really accurate to reality.

Then you'd be an idiot. It's not your money, and you don't get to decide that someone deciding to save theirs is cancerous.

I usually roll my eyes at the happy merchant meme, but you're actually pushing it.
>>
>>389291070
>all these defective ps4's

wew i dodged that bullet. always knew sony used cheap garbage parts in their products
>>
>>389290625
I'm just saying that technology is defective by default. I had issues with both of my 360 pads and PS3 pad, but haven't had any with the Elite controller (yet).

If I refused to buy any of the motherboards I read reviews about on Amazon I would never end up buying anything.

Crowbcat has the same video about the Xbox One, PS4, and Switch. PS2 slim had notorious issues with their lasers. My Wii had issues playing double layer discs(I had to buy a replacement off ebay). I had to buy a second Gamecube because the first one had disc reading problems. The DS has notorious hinge issues. My PS1 stopped reading discs. My brother's R9 380 Sapphire Nitro was dead on arrival, but mine wasn't. These things happen in technology.
>>
>>389291641
>If I refused to buy any of the motherboards I read reviews about on Amazon I would never end up buying anything

The difference being that you have to buy a motherboard to build a computer.

You don't have to buy an Elite controller to play games. In fact, you'd be an idiot to do so because it's just another one of those "pro gaming" peripherals that only gullible retards buy.
>>
>>389291282
What's cancerous is listening to a small sample size off of a Crowbcat video that shows 20 people with faulty products rather than confirming it's a widespread issue.
>>
>>389291931
>You don't have to buy an Elite controller to play games.
So? You're moving goal posts. We're talking about negative reviews and faulty products in technology.

>In fact, you'd be an idiot to do so because it's just another one of those "pro gaming" peripherals that only gullible retards buy.
Aren't you the same guy that said >>389291282
You don't get to decide someone is a gullible retard just because they spent their money on it. It's their money.
>>
>>389291953
>deciding to not spend $150 on a controller is cancerous because your chances of getting a defective one is only somewhat possible

Why wouldn't you just get the a normal controller for less than half that price?
>>
>>389292331
You can apply that argument to any expensive piece of hardware. Literally any. There's always a small chance.
>Why wouldn't you just get the a normal controller for less than half that price?
Is this really relevant to the discussion? The only point I've made is being a cancerous faggot over deciding to not buy something because of a small sample size in a fucking CrowBcat video
>>
>>389290625
If you look at any popular tech product you'll ALWAYS find like 10 or 20 one star reviews of customers who unfortunately got sent a faulty product OR just misused said product and blamed it on the manufacturer. You really have to go with the mob mentality when buying components and shit otherwise you're not going to want to buy anything due to fears of defects.
>>
>>389292267
>You're moving goal posts
Nope, you opened the door by inviting the comparison. One is a literal necessity when you wish to build a computer, and thus not buying one isn't an option at all. Some risk MUST be taken, and the consumer usually looks to minimize it wherever possible. When it comes to the Elite controller, you can eliminate that risk entirely by just not buying it, and since it's literally just a fucking average controller, you don't lose out.

>You don't get to decide someone is a gullible retard
I sure do. If someone literally buys a product that has no net benefit because he falls for marketing lies, he's a gullible retard. No way around that.

>>389292618
>Is this really relevant to the discussion?
How is it not? You are literally saying that someone who prefers to just buy a normal Xbox controller instead of an elite is a cancerous faggot. Listen to yourself.

>>389292618
The difference being is that there's no point to buying an Elite controller for any reason other than wanting to review it, and thus the average consumer should never be blamed for not buying one.

Are you ignoring all the issues I had with other pieces of technology and controllers? The 360 pad had common drifting issues and the PS4 pad has common thumbstick wear and tear issues.
>I sure do. If someone literally buys a product that has no net benefit because he falls for marketing lies, he's a gullible retard. No way around that.
It has more buttons, that's a subjective "net benefit."
>How is it not? You are literally saying that someone who prefers to just buy a normal Xbox controller instead of an elite is a cancerous faggot. Listen to yourself.
I said cancerous because they decided not to buy a product off of a video with an extremely small sample size. Holy fuck, fucking read. If you went to Amazon right now the Elite Controller has less than stellar reviews. I would be fine if that was what was posted, but it wasn't. It was a fucking video with 20 people in it showing they have a faulty product just like CrowBCat's videos on the Xbone, PS4, and Switch all of which have good reviews on Amazon and don't have widespread issues (maybe the Switch does, I don't know). I don't give a fuck about endorsing the elite controller. I've had issues with every type of controller out there.
>there's no point to buying an Elite controller for any reason other than wanting to review it, and thus the average consumer should never be blamed for not buying one.
It has more buttons and they are remap-able. Third party is an option, but those also have negative reviews on average and prone to failure. Madcatz died for a reason.

No, but again, some things are a literal necessity. If you want to play console games, you need a console. You need controllers. Some of them will be bad. But you HAVE to have them. The smart consumer minimizes the risk and cost to himself. Someone who buys an Elite controller is not a smart consumer.

>It has more buttons, that's a subjective "net benefit."
You are so full of fucking shit. I'm not even going to respond to this other than to say that.

>I said cancerous because they decided not to buy a product off of a video with an extremely small sample size.
This is literally what you are saying: "I do not deem the risk unacceptable, therefore no one else should either." The sample size is fucking irrelevant, it's not your money. You're not the one who might be taking a risk by spending it.

>It has more buttons and they are remap-able

Alright, dude.

>This is literally what you are saying: "I do not deem the risk unacceptable, therefore no one else should either." The sample size is fucking irrelevant, it's not your money. You're not the one who might be taking a risk by spending it.
No, the sample size is at the fucking crux of it, you fucking cunt. You're a retarded buyer if you don't do the full research. I could tell you I had issues with my Xbox 360 controller and if you were a retarded buyer you would go "guess I'm not buying" rather than doing actual research on the product and whether the failure rate is even remotely consequential. That would be the same thing as if the video was 20 people saying it works, but the failure rate is massive, but you deem it "risk worthy" because of that one video. Not only that, but it would make you insanely cancerous if you propagate the myth of the failure rate being higher than it is, like /v/ loves to do.

>bought a 360 controller when I heard the Xbone was coming out
>managed to get one of the new ones off amazon with the rotating DPAD that was bundled with a charger pack and a wireless receiver
>replaced all of the plastic parts that I possibly could with aluminum, got some nice silicone grips for the sticks, and a protective rubber skin
>now I have a rock solid wireless controller that's got the highest possible compatibility with PC games and I can strip it and repair/replace the parts easily

This thing is gonna work for like ten years.

My Elite controller is perfectly fine after 8 months. That video is absurd levels of cherry picking. No matter what the product is, I bet you could find plenty of videos of people complaining about how theirs is broken. Definitely more than enough for a 2:45 long supercut. Claiming the entire product line is defective is pure Sonybro autism and nothing more. When the reality is that only about <0.01% of these controllers would be defective but obviously those are the cases we are going to hear about because people aren't as likely to make a video complaining about how well their new $150 controller works.

At least use real arguments against the controller like it's steep price. If you spend a lot of time playing video games and are already in the upper quartile of skill level then you'll benefit a lot from the Elite controller and it's worth buying. Even though I love my Elite controller I wouldn't recommend one to many people at all mostly because they're shit at video games compared to me and won't actually get any noticeable benefit since it's their lack of skill holding them back, not a lack of auxiliary buttons.

Not many people, but its use is increasing, it's objectvely better in every way compared to stick and controller, as it has the advantages of both

I'm sure someone out there got defective 360 controllers before. They just weren't so retarded as to make a sarcastic video about it. I also boycotted wired 360 controllers because they would always fuck up within a year for me.

I've had my elite controller for 2 years now and it's barely got any problems. Worst I can say about it is some stick drift on the right stick, but I just alter the deadzones on that and it was no longer an issue

The controller's nice, but slightly overpriced. The thing's survived plenty of drops from me though.

I'm not defending anything. Just calling the people who watch one video on a defective product and think they're all defective retarded.

It seems all the broken batches went to the US, perfectly fine everywhere else. If you end up with a broken one its because its old stock.

I bought 2 controllers from Razer and both were broken day 1.

I actually own one, it broke the shoulder button (lb). Both my friends' elite controllers did the same thing. mine is starting to get stick drift as well, about 8 months in. The grips fell off as well. Meanwhile, the fucking hydroturf on my fucking seadoo that sits out in the sun all day has lasted about 5 years. The scuf ripoff offers the same durability as the standard controller because the guts are the same minus the shit for the paddles. Microshit needs to figure their shit out, possibly using aluminum instead of poorly molded plastic.

My console has bricked itself twice, requiring a usb offline update the first time, and the purchase of an s the second time. I will not be buying the x any time soon.

The support site is a joke. The only good thing about paying $60 a year is that you get it back in free games. The graphics are shit, the hardware is shit, and the software is shit. Believe me, I'd know from experience and not some fucking youtube video.

A pc sounds better and better every fucking day. Hopefully 1080tis will be on sale this year.

it isn't like the common problems aren't something you can see if you even pick up the controller and press each button once
