I kinda hope someone puts together a little lore pointer for all the callbacks. I've forgotten pretty much all details about Braccus Rex for example since I lost played the first game, and I can't be arsed to play it again just so I'm up to speed for the callbacks. You're still classified as your race when you select undead. E.g. picking lizard AND undead will give you both convo options related to them. It simply makes people run in fear/attack you, poisons heal you and you can pick locks with your fingers.

Undead lizard sounds really good from a utilitarian standpoint. They can dig without a shovel and pick locks without lockpicks.

I liked the writing for OS1 because too many fantasy games try to play things a bit straight and without any sense of humor at themselves.

Last game I played that basically mocked the entire high-fantasy genre was the 3d Bard's Tale game.

While OS2 (from what I played) seems to be going a bit more serious, it still has some of the humor I appreciate.

But writing is never really the strong suit of OS1 or OS2, it is all about the co-op and competitive gameplay elements that makes it feel like a proper tabletop experience.

I want to be an either an undead paladin or an undead berzerker because both of those sound real silly, but I have concerns about health. If I put poison everywhere I'm asking to be blown the fuck up, but if I don't then those shitters are just going to use healing on me, circumventing my armor. Is undead only really going to be practical for ranged builds that can keep out of the fray?

The introduction of magic/physical armor does a lot to alleviate the ridiculous damage you can do with magic since you usually can't immediately CC enemies. IIRC for a time during EA two-handed warfare was probably the strongest thing you could do because of how much damage you could put out with Rage/Whirlwind/Cripple. I know at least Rage got toned back a bit but melee should definitely still be strong.

I hope I get to play as a Spellblade this time, somehow. I fucking love melee characters that buffer themselves with elemental magic.
