To be fair, the way how those games would be handled graphics wise way back then made the Rabbids look really bad (and they already looked like ugly-cute caricatures of normal rabbits). Put that on top of their attitudes, constant screaming and I can't say I can't understand the people who might hate 'em. For those who weren't all that giddy with the whole party game thing, it's just more salt for the wound.

But as graphical enhancements improved, I found myself liking them a bit more design wise. In a way, they also sort of remind me of Worms in a certain way. Their attitude also improved a bit (mostly because of Rabbids Go Home)

Heck, seeing the cartoon they have recently, I've grown more and more used to them. Weird silly antics introducing odd looking rabbits in their own habitat/cul-de-sac with a few humans once in a while. I guess I got used to it due to being already used to shows like Ed, Edd and Eddy. They're expressful as fuck and each has a odd, albeit familiar personality, I even found myself making a few reaction images. Writers aren't even afraid of making them act like assholes towards each other, with one some times being the odd one out and being much tolerable than the others.

I guess they ran out of time to animate it/ran close to spending too much budget on a cinematic so they left it out of the picture. The Phantom's cutscenes is one of the few most elaborately animated scenes in the entire game, having a trailer dedicated to the second half. He would even have these special effects around him as he sang (purple-ish squares as he'd dash, this odd white 'swoosh' circling around him in very specific times, like when he screams Mario's name or while he was singing into the plunger). I guess they really wanted him to stand out.

>Also, does Rabbid Yoshi have a gimmick? He kind of feels like the odd one out.
His movement options are equal to Luigi minus the double team jump. He also has the maximum amount of dashes with five dashes each doing 90 damage.
>>
What's your favourite team? Mine are Mario + Luigi + Peach and Mario + Luigi + R Peach. I still don't have Yoshi, tho.
>>
>>389283336
Mario+ R.Luigi + Luigi
R.Luigi is the best healer in the game.

this I'm loving RLuigi and I can't lose Luigi's mobility

Mario + Luigi + Rabbid Mario are my "Quick Cleanup" Team. First I boost their attack with Mario's ability, then I run in with Rabbid Mario to do some dash damage and destroy enemy cover, then I position myself so Luigi can do a Team Jump into an advantageous position to destroy more enemies with the Sentry and pick off stuff with Steely Stare.

By the time I move Mario there are rarely any enemies left within range kill, and those that are available are now exposed due to Rabbid Mario destroying their cover.

For more long winded matches, any of the Peaches are good.

Vampire dash is extremely strong and gives everyone a leech.

His statuses are also 60-70% so you can expect a stone or vamp with most of his shots. He can be used as bait with his shield also. Very useful support teammate.

I beat world 1 and am going back through it to collect all the hidden treasures. Surprised myself when I found a hidden chapter. Love that kind of shit. The reward was fucking ass though just another 3D model, was hoping for a new gun.

That said, the challenge stages are actually legit challenging. I actually feel a bit of dread when it says 'Medium' next to the flag guy. I just beat this one where I had 8 turns to lead this toad to the finish line and really only won because Luigi got a lucky crit on his ink to blind a Smasher. Even then toad barely crossed the finish line thanks to Itchy Feet.

I personally like it a lot. It's challenging but without XCOM's retarded "73% chance to hit even though they're standing out in the open" bullshit.
>>
>>389286816
Didn't you get golden weapons from the hidden chapter?
>>

Honestly, Mario+Rabbids opened up the market in that genre, they don't have much of an excuse to not port it now as they can cash in on all those who want more strategy games.

the game just crashed in the second phase of the final boss. i was doing well too. i was expecting some huge bug(s) the whole playthrough seeing as its ubisoft after all. shame it finally happened at the worse possible time. but otherwise, i think the game is fantastic.

Finishing up the challenges in Chapter 1 and Rabbid Luigi is definitely MVP. His damage output is insane, and vamp dash is OP as fuck.

I thought the game would soft lock a few times when it would go from computer to my turn on a few challenge runs. Thankfully it seems to save every other step.

I took everyone up to the ledges and sent Luigi and Rabbid Peach's drones down to blow up everything. The drones work really well as distractions.

>>389282167
Holy shit how did you even get to this point without upgrading anything. Give Rabbid Luigi all vamp dash upgrades, he saved my ass when I fought them.
>>
Rabbid Mario is a beast. I send him in blast-sliding, then he sings to get everyone close to him, then he blows them away with his burst gun and heals up with vamp. He's probably my favorite so far, but I only just finished world 2 and then went back to complete the world 1 challenges.

>XCOM EU/EW on Switch

Oh god yes
>>
I hate how if you hit the smashers with your steely stare or hero sight while they're moving they get their 4 move squares + 4 more for hitting them. I also hate how you can't make their attack range stay onscreen like you can in Fire Emblem. I also wish you could give commands from tactical view, or at least zoom out. I also wish drones would pick another target if you kill their target before they get there.

Complaints aside, I'm enjoying the game. It's challenging enough, but still fun.

>>

No, because I don't have a Switch. I'm sure it's fun and I would buy it if I had one.
I just don't want to buy another fucking console to play 4 games and then abandon.
>>
Is this the only Mario rpg kinda thing where Mario consistently feels like the worst member of your team? So many times I wish I could swap him out for someone else. He's not horrible but his short movement and short range feel really limiting late game. Wouldn't be too bad if the game didn't force you to use him and at least one Rabbid. Really limits team creativity.

Think of it this way.
Imagine you're a game dev at Ubisoft who grew up playing vidya. High chance lot of them started with a NES and Super Mario Bros. Some even wanted to make games because they loved it so much. Then suddenly you get the chance to make an OFFICIAL Mario game. For a lot of the devs it's a literal childhood dream come true. They wouldn't want to fuck up something like this, so you better be damn sure that every single dev on the team would bust their ass to not disappoint their hero.

>>389291172
Stop with this meme. Just because a company regularly releases mediocre, mass-appeal games doesn't mean suddenly every single team of theirs has no talent or value, especially with a company as big as Ubisoft. Everytime you say something like this you're insulting Rayman, for starters

It's a game Ubisoft cared about just teh right amount. It's clear that they put a ton of effort into every little thing they did. However, the suits upstairs didn't care about it enough to try and foce their shit on it too bad.

Another good example of this is the two recent 2d rayman games. Both are great, but after the first one was a success the second one came out with an incredible amount of bullshit added in for unlocking characters that was clearly thought up by some manager somewhere who didn't care about people enjoying the game but wanted more money.
>>
>>389293313
>the second one came out with an incredible amount of bullshit added in for unlocking characters that was clearly thought up by some manager somewhere who didn't care about people enjoying the game but wanted more money.
There was no extra money involved on the player's part though, they just had those lum requirements for the last few characters because they wanted people to play the online challenge mode. It's understandable, if annoying.
>>
In the desert and I love how the music switches between the ice and desert sections. Grant Kirkhope is so good.
>>
Would it be possible for someone to make something like this game with online multiplayer fights? I have no coding experience, but it seems like you could take all of the aspects of the game, and create a player vs player mode.
>>
I'm having fun with some of the challenges.
>>
>>389293062
i've also had mario get stuck while exiting a pipe in a non-battle area in world 3, and i had to exist to peach's castle and go back in. i've also had a few times where after giving the command for Rabbid Luigi's rocket laucnher, he'd do the animation without the rocket launcher actually appearing two or three times before it appeared and then actually fired.
>>
>>389294996
Whoever goes first would have too big of an advantage. This game is definitely designed to be a single player experience.
>>
Disgaea is better
>>
>>389295301
That's true, but there could easily be a way to counter that. Maybe give player who goes second 600 or 550 power orbs per member while whoever goes first gets 500
>>
>>389295490
Good thing we can have both.
>>
There aren't any shitposting threads so it must be good.

Honestly I think my favorite thing about this game is Bowser Jr, funny enough. The phone call he just got from Bowser was both funny and cute. It's the perfect game for him to be an antagonist too.
>>
it's a nintendo game so we aren't allowed to call out its flaws
>>
>>389296453
Yeah, I'm happy he got to be the main villain. I suppose he already was in Sunshine, but he was almost always Shadow Mario there. Great dialogue here too, he was a great character both here and in Paper Jam a couple years ago.
