It's the same game, just tweaked combat. It may be worth playing in about 2 years time after they've released the rest of the raids/strikes. But fuck playing the base game, there's zero content.

I had fun with the first one despite its obvious and numerous flaws. The sequel looks to be more of the same, but now I can play it on PC where I always wanted it.

I got maybe one serious reply and a dozen replies just telling me I should have bought it already and Bungie is the best developer ever and I should be ashamed for not throwing money at them.

Since my sheeple friends are probably going to all be playing this, can someone who played the first Destiny tell me what this game is all about? From what I gather it seems to be Borderlands with way less memes and a more Halo aesthetic, which might be cool, but I don't get why it's so expensive unless there is hundreds of hours of content.

I used to love Halo 1,2, and 3 and would like to hope Bungie still knows what they are doing but I really hate supporting these turbojew DLC business practices.

There's an attitude in the Destiny community that it's them against the world, because everyone that didn't play it CONSTANTLY talked shit about it, saying it was the worst game of all time and the world's biggest disappointment and anyone who played it is a retard. In reality, it's an alright shoot and loot game with a relatively fun endgame if you like doing raids. If you like shooting dudes and making your numbers go higher, it's pretty fun. I didn't say tank, healer, dps. All 3 are dps, but they cover the original fantasy archetypes. Destiny has its roots in being sci fi themed fantasy, even if hardly anything from the original concept made it to the final product. You can't come up with a fourth one without stepping on the toes of those three. It's like making a new primary color. What they should do is add the fourth subclass already. The ones in the game are based on the fundamental forces, but weak nuclear force is still absent. Could easily be represented by some kind of decay element since damage like that is already in the game. But from the looks of things they aren't even including the 3rd subclasses added in the first game's DLC. They're really gouging you on this one, so if anyone's interested they should wait for some GOTY collection.

Yeah but the issue was that Bungie was talking up how much bigger the game is, and in the end it's just the same amount of strikes.

But then again, it looks like more of the content is focused on PvP, patrolling, and the story missions. Also since guns are set rolls and not randomized anymore, theres less of a need to constantly be running strikes to get the exact strike-specific drop with the roll you want. Once you get the drop, you probably wont need to play the strike again.

There are no actual bonuses to using specific guns as specific classes. It's just that some perks that certain classes get that compliment certain weapon types.

For example, Hunter gets a perk that speeds up reload after a precision kill. Handcannons focus on getting precision kills, and have slow reloads. Pair them together, and Hunter does better with Handcannons than Warlock would.

That doesn't mean Scout rifle is unusable as a Hunter, it just isn't going to benefit as much as the Handcannon does.

Is it better than Memelands? Never played the first since I'm a PCfag.
I played 1, 2 and the prequel.
I dig the aesthetic in Destiny a lot more though.
As long as the gunplay and loot and shoot are decent I should have no problem with it.

I haven't played Borderlands but from what I've heard of it that sounds accurate. The game does feel like Halo in some ways and I liked that, but if you literally just want Halo then you will be disappointed. Why is it so expensive? Because Activision are relentless jews and they know people will buy it anyway.

Depends on what you consider content in this context. Hundreds of hours of constant fresh content? Of course not. But it's not far fetched to say that if you like how the game feels to play, and you're not opposed to repeating some of the content a certain amount of times for loot, and you enjoy the PvP, then you will get hundreds of hours of playtime out of the game. For me the thing with Destiny is that it's great at its core, but eventually will get boring to play because you'll outplay the content before new content is released. When that new content does come out though it becomes fun for a while again. Now from the interviews it sounds like in D2 they have done a better job at spreading out the content, so instead of just running the same few strikes over and over again for loot, you can now do a bunch of different things that all have a roughly equal chance of granting you better loot, so that should make it feel less repetitive hopefully. We'll have to wait and see how true that really is when it comes out though.

I don't like it either, but the thing is there aren't really any other games that fill the gap I'd be left with if I didn't buy it, so I find myself having to buy it anyway. Destiny is special, it's got a lot of huge flaws but at its core they've got something great there. You played a Hunter didn't you. The beta didn't have CC so all classes are genderlocked. The revolver outclassed all the other weapons because you played Hunter and got the Sunshot epic, whilst all your other weapons were standard. Grenade launcher is a power weapon, and ammo is only restricted in PVP for balance reasons (which you can still collect from certain points in the map).

So in both cases I used standard revolver. And since enemy AI is extremely basic it was much easier to do headshots than chip them out with automatic weapons.

I understand PVP restictions on power ammo, but I'm talking about PVE. It felt like I couldn't use "big guns" as much as I could in memelands or Shadow Warrior 2.

The Destiny 2 PC beta has shown me that the average /v/ poster is completely brainless. They seem to have no ability to extrapolate based on what they've seen in the beta, and instead think the beta is indicative of every single aspect of the game. Without friends to do those with, youre just spending like 120 bucks to have some grindy frustration occasionally interrupted by fun. Bungie will consistently leave you either scratching your head or outright pissed with their updates. Destiny is only worth it if you are willing to invest some time, but Bungie always finds a way to make the investment a losing one.

I'm not hyped, just cautiously optimistic. I didn't play Destiny 1 so the experience will be somewhat fresh. I also love the space fantasy aesthetic and loot n' shoot aesthetic. However, if the console release reveals that 2 is going to have the same dearth of content as 1 on release then I'll pass altogether.

It's fun for those people. Is there any reason to be hyped for any game aside from that?

/v/ seems to think that a game can either be irredeemable shit that will give you cancer, or the most perfect gift from a loving god that has ever existed, and absolutely nothing in between. It's a decent game that's fun to pick up and shoot guys in. People are excited for new stuff to shoot and loot.

Got a free copy with my 1080 and just found out it's not out on PC til Oct 24th, fuck consoles
