Yeah, that sounds like a good idea.

Better save up for a boat.
Silent Hill map gives me some serious PTSD.
>>389252017
there's a florist shop on the Central Silent Hill's side, near the Shopping Mall.
And I'd be damned if a shopping mall wouldn't have a flower shop or two.
>>389252241
>have to drive like 50 miles just to get to the bar
>>389252475
It's like a mile and that's what you get for living on Finney street anyway.

All of half life 2

REH
>>389255326
>literally one fucking corridor.
All of Black Mesa
All of half life 1 is hard to show because different maps go inside of each other and it looks like this
>>389255394
>t-that doesn't count
>>389252017
That's pretty much reflective of every small American rural/suburban town, if you don't have a car you are fucked, it's also one of the reasons why Americans are obese.
>>389255394
What room will half life 3 be shaped like?
>>389255416
that's pretty neato. black mesa is my favorite vidya location.

I wish games these days made as good a use of verticality as OOT and other early 3D platformer and adventure games. I mean after being trapped in 2D for decades, as soon as 3D became viable devs rushed to give their games a ridiculous sense of depth, and it was fucking cool, just look at the vertical element in some of those rooms, not only is it fun but it looks great.
Now devs mostly take 3D for granted and I find they don't make as good a use of the third dimension as they should. Quake is another example, the game's vertical depth is very prominent, id really wanted to show off the capabilities of their 3D engine and they made some of the best FPS levels ever with a great sense of depth, layering, it gave them endless freedom and variety in level design and they took absolutely full advantage of the extra dimension, but now with tools a hundred times better than id had we can't make anything nearly as cool, it's sad. I'd say most 3D games these days really don't make any good use of the extra dimension.

you can see how everything blends together like one big open world map

it felt too small tqbh
having LA and SF so close was awkward

"americans" are obese because we have millions of spic and nigger subhumans that sit at a 45% obesity rate, 50% for their women. they all live in the city

HE AIN'T MY BOY
I can't find a pic of the entire map so you'll just have to do with Little Havana
>>389258525
What game?
>>389258612
Scarface: The World is Yours
Just reverse image search it you silly goose
>>389259768
I really need to start playing dwarf fortress again
>>389258525
>that transition from the caribbean to miami when you smuggle drugs
Scarface was really underrated.
>>389256712
I think one of the reasons for this is that it is quite hard to make the average player look upwards. Games that have an actual budget and profit targets to hit are playtested by groups of drooling retards so verticality propably is one of the first things to go.
>>389261070
>>389256712
I mean.
Games today often let you be on top of buildings and mountains and shit.
>>389261270
That's not what he means by verticality
>maintenance deck
>>389261270
Yeah but with regards to mountains they're just raised terrain, there is still only one layer of vertical depth there, and buildings consist only of several flat, horizontal planes with stairs leading to each floor (if there is even an interior in the first place, usually there isn't), something which again does not make good use of the extra dimension, it's something that you could literally do in 2D already. But when you look at OOT dungeons there is constant traversal and interaction between the differing vertical layers, it isn't just a bunch of boring horizontal planes separated by staircases there is a consistent sense of vertical scale throughout the dungeon.
>>389262152
>>389261270
Does Divinity 2 count? It has verticality from you flying around as a dragon
Also the Souls games have a lot of inherent verticality
>>389252475
It's a small ass town. It's a 10 minute drive at best.
>>389262565
Yeah Dark Souls is very vertical, the map feels about as tall as it is wide. I think one of the things that made DaS2 less fun was the fact that it was much more flat than DaS1, it was a lot less interesting to explore as a result.
>>389253047
>two separate yoshi's islands
>>389262565
>Also the Souls games have a lot of inherent verticality
and it is absolutely horrible because of how awful collision is handled. Just try to defend the Great Hollow and the entirety of Dark Souls 3
Everything left of Yuktobania is non-canon, pls no Europe is Islam jokes
>>389263321
There were definitely some terrible zones but when the level design was done right (Blighttown, Catacombs, Sen's Fortress) the sense of height was pretty incredible.
What's the /v/erdict?
>>389254902
i remember looking at this and thinking "what a fucking nightmare". but now that i finished the game it's not that bad. the real bullshit starts at BF5 with the invisible tiles.
>>389263743
Pretty damn good
>>389263743
the only region I wasn't really fond of was Akkala. Breath of the Wild works best with hazardous regions which is why every snowy area and the Gerudo region were the highlights for me. The only major hazards in Akkala were lightning strikes which was such a minor segment of the region. If the DLC dungeon also adds a new region, I'm hoping it will be like Hebra or Gerudo
>>389264861
What a fucking mess.

>>389258195
Aw hell yeah the maps in the Doom addon were ridiculously huge.
>>389266841
>>389264398
I guess I did the right choice by doing theGerudo's ancient beastfirst, as it meant I had the ninja's after my ass for the whole remainder of the game, everywhere.
This was so tough without internet.
>>389266513
I really liked this game, it's chill as fuck.
