STOP TALKING ABOUT IT IT'S NOT OUT ON CONSOLES YET
>>
Nah, it's been fun for me. It's just overpriced.
>>
It's for XCom 2, so that was pretty much a given.
>>
I don't know what is the problem, but it also seems that people who complain about it don't either. Only shit spouting about the 30-40 eurodollaridoos pricetag and that's it. It's the expansion for XCOM 2. That's it. It expands the base game and if you like the game, you find value in it. I find it refreshing that we have an honest to god expansion packs from time to time instead of shallow DLCs. I miss MECs from EW, but I'm still having fun.

Of course the fun is only artificial and I have a shit taste. Also remember to insert shit eating/food analogy :^)

XCOM isn't some cinematic setpiece shooter retard. You're supposed to do multiple playthroughs and that's exactly what the DLC caters for

We have SPARKS who fill up this role.

Also we have three new classes/factions you can recruit into XCOM (Reapers that may or may not be Stalkers with a love for guerilla warfare and claymores, Skirmishers that are ADVENT rogue super soldiers that fight for humans and against their past by being one-man armies, and the Templars who are unique psychic warriors with psi-blades and some shenanigans up their sleeves), six new types of enemies and the eponymous Chosen who will try to get to you and drag you back to the Ethereals while raping the shit out of your soldiers.

>>
>>389250349
Firaxis have a really fucking terrible design philosophy when it comes to XCOM.

They think that just adding more enemies with more health suddenly make progression interesting, rather than adding aliens with different utlities which require a range of strategies to deal with.

I honestly thought they'd bucked the trend when the Sectoid became a caster unit, but literally everything after that just gets like five actions a turn with 20 health points and armour.

Lategame on higher difficulties is more about killing an enemy before they get their first turn rather than actually coming up with interesting strategies.
>>
If they ever add in a mod that lets me make a dual-wielding Revolver "Revolver Ocelot" Ocelot as a sniper i'll be all over it. I really don't see it being possible, though. That seems to be far too complex for the mods i've seen, which are mostly just reskins or custom classes with fuckbusted abilities. I did remember someone saying they were working on NCR Ranger armor sets, though, which makes my dick hard.
>>
>>389253782
It managed to make it a lot of fun so it still added 30 hours of gameplay.
>>
>>389254643

You can add custom animations, so it's perfectly doable. There are mods that add new aliens (not texture swaps) and new items with unique mod-created animations.

Killzone is nice, but it's basically used once or twice a mission because of a long-ass cooldown

a Gunslinger can solo Sectopods with Bluescreen Rounds, spread conditions to every visible enemy with Faceoff, and can actually move and shoot.
>>
>>389256217
Gunslinger can shoot 5 times at one round (though not every), giving it one of the best burst damages. Also they are accurate, good for close and far and lot more adaptaiable than snipers.

>>
>>389256650
>>389256675
Why is that? I know bluescreen rounds either do extra damage to mechanical units or somesuch but soloing seems really strong. Is it just due to high end pistols being that good? Apparently the pistol from the hunter is crazy damn good.
>>
>>389251335
I find the hard to believe. We already have the first 8 hours of the game and it's great.
>>
>>389257021
the first 8~ hours of Div OS 1 were good too

then the rest of the game happened
>>
>>389252948
So that's why it took almost a year and a half for anything worthwhile to come from modding besides cosmetics? Shit the mini dlcs they released before WotC had more substantial content than 99% of the mods on the workshop and it was better balanced than half of the gameplay mods too.

Shit the last "This is What Modding Can Do" project was Long War 2, and it released with so many flaws that beagle and /xcg/ dropped it when they both circlejerk LW1
>>
>>389257015
>Lightning Hands for one shoot
>Fanfire for another three shoots
>round it out with a fifth shoot
minimum 8 damage a shot, Sectopods have 40 health on legendary
>>
>>389257015

The thing is, blue screen rounds add a flat 5 damage to every hit, so if five shots are hitting, that's an extra 25 damage assuming that all 5 shots hit. The base pistol damage is around 25 for five shots if the armor is shredded, so gunslingers can potentially do 50 damage in one turn, enough to kill a sectopod even on Legendary.

that part isn't a problem unless he forces you to run a guy into a new pod. He usually stops that and tries to flank you with the grapple when you get within his movement range though.

Hew BTFO'd me on the first resistance defense, when I only had 4 squaddies, he sat on a roof and took potshots and whenever I tried to shoot at him he'd vengeance right back and fuck my guy up. Trying to flank with ranger just made him grapple into a better position.

Why do people want MECs to return, SPARKS fill the role well enough, even if they're a bit underpowered compared to the other classes? Honestly they needed a bit more of a buff in WotC when normal soldiers get to use AP, but mods exist. It's honestly way better than having to level up a soldier to Colonel and having wait a few days for him to become a cyborg, plus they can get mind controlled.

>>
>>389263580

You can cheese them with snipers now, they don't get ruler reaction if they can't see the person taking action. Also Reaper has an ability where they shoot at a target until they run out of ammo, combine that with +3 ammo weapon upgrade and watch the ruler melt.
>>
>>389261635
Trust me, even for people who started with EW, you'll want to play 2 vanilla before WOTC. Usually the "full experience " bundles end up cheaper then getting it all separately on sale, but it's easy to both get overwhelmed with the expansion, both mechanic wise, and storywise, casually spoiling the entire plot of the vanilla game within the first hour.
>>
>>389261979

You could also edit the game files so they target advent more if you really want some good laughs. Shit like you said though make the game enjoyable as fuck.
>>
>>389259806
if you spend most of your time making money you shouldn't waste all your free time thinking about how to spend it goy

>>389264320
So WotC spoils the vanilla story early on? That's kind of disappointing. I've read up on the mechanics and such, and I'm fairly confident I won't have much of a problem when it comes to gameplay.
>>
>>389265154

Its not that it spoils it. its that baseline xcom 2 is a bit overwhelming at first. And this gets further compounded in wotc. You have a shit ton of stuff flying at your face right off the bat especially if you leave the wotc storymode on, which you want in the very first time youre playing because it introduces the new things in its own tutorial fashion, but still. Play baseline xcom, you dont even really need to beat it but go at it until you feel comfortable or have plasma weapons unlocked. Beat the game if you want, but only THEN play wotc.

>>389265154
Its played straight for the most part, with just the right amount of fan service and anime tier wish fulfillment, dialed to 11 with the straight outta animu chosen.
But the origin of the chosen, as well as some casual random faction dialogue can spoil major plot points.
Honestly adjusting to the new enemy behaviors and timers was tough enough coming from EW anyways, I couldn't imagine having to deal with the chosen for the first time too.
Lastly the dlc have two lengthy story missions that can be disabled, and the expansion has another, so if you're playing all three for the first time in a row, it's quite overwhelming.
>>
>>389265765

>>389265926
okay.

because I am watching a guy stream WotC (he killed the assassin) and holy crap they added so much stuff.

but the Chosen fucking with you all the time and Lost Randomly showing up in normal missions make it seem annoying
>>
I enjoyed it. But Assassin Chosen is fucking horseshit if you meet her first. Lost are bullshit early on, especially if there's the Assassin raping you and lol the Lost don't attack the enemy.

I ended up researching everything before finishing it. I made my Templar a super mobility unit, like 20 mobility default, when she got Reaper she ran around pew pewing.

I just want XCOM3 which is obviously Terror From The Deep.
>>
>>389266016
I heard that many of the timers were removed or adjusted for WotC, but the timed missions in EW were some of my least favorite since I had to rush through them. I played EW on Ironman Classic as my first playthrough, and I'm probably just going to jump into Ironman Legend (or Bronzeman) on WotC. But I played EW pretty much blind, unlike WotC where I've read up on what to do and how to progress.
>>389265682
The problem is that the base game can take something like 40+ hours to finish, and I don't have that kind of time if I also plan to play WotC. It's going to be all or nothing.

>Defend the beacon mission
>Spawn on one edge of the map
>Run towards becon
>Alien turn
>Theres a fucking SECTOPOD ALREADY FUCKING HITTING THE BEACON

I mean, i managed to save the beacon and only because i RAN REALLY FUCKING HARD and had a disposable Resistance Soldier and lots of Mimic Beacons to draw out the fire to distract the fucking Sectopod when the Beacon had only 2 fucking HP left.

Fucking bullshit missions
>>
>>389275602
>>389275804
Honestly these beacon ones are a lot more annoying/frustrating than the timed ones since it's a crapshoot of what you get hitting it.
>>
>>389274052
You should never count 'fixes' as being part of the price. The amount of content WOTC isn't $40 worth, wtf kind of standard are you using? It's a $20 expansion at best, 2K just overcharges to shit.
>>
>>389260020
If you really hate the timers so much, there's an "advanced option" to double all timer lengths when starting a new game.

Means you're a total scrub, though.
>>
>>389277412
Well, I'm not poor, so 40 bucks is nothing.
>>
>>389277735
Whether you can afford it or not is irrelevant to whether it's a relatively small asking price for what content it adds. Compared to most expansions on the market WOTC is definitely overcharging considering its level of content.
>>
>>389278041
Having fun with it, don't care.
>>
>>389278041
Firaxis has always overcharged. I played through Enemy Within for the first time last week (previously I had only played through the base Enemy Unknown) and while the additions were nice, I didn't feel like it was a new experience. It had nothing that couldn't have been a regular patch. Now I only paid 2,5 bucks for it but to my understanding it was like 30 or 40 bucks new which is an absurdly high price for the content you get.
>>
>>389255821
It's shills.
They run the /vg/ general unironically.
They shill workshop only mods kvetching "workshop is the future goy better buy our game" and telling you to buy it all the time and in their OP pastas.
>>
did they fix the thing where dark VIPs wouldnt draw characters from the pool even if you designate characters specifically for that?
>>
>>389278752
>>389255821
Tell me about it, /v/ is filled with people who like things I utterly despise, bunch of shit-licking shills constantly talking about everything I hate. If you like anything you're a shill.

While I agree its over charged, I would say that theres a considerable amount of content that makes it pretty worthwhile. There seems to be a bunch of additional missions types, as well as the sitreps helping randomize even normal missions more ontop of the more obvious stuff like Chosen and factions.

How come Xcom 2 looks pretty gud graphically but CIV6 looks like total ass?
>>
>>389279363
They both have different artstyles for one
>>
>>389279363
Civ6 wants the wider audience.
Xcom2 also has a plague of technical problems.
The release was an issue holocaust
>>
>>389278704
Yeah I remember buying EW at release like a good goy. It was fun but it wasn't worth the $30 I paid for it. Though these models are designed for maximising profits. Naturally they just choose whatever people are willing to pay for it, and then lower it to a more reasonable price during the sale for the discerning consumers.
>>
>>389255242
The obligatory skulljacks are 70% but will always succeed.

>>

Nope, missed one against the new green tron dude, lost a ranger that way :(
>>
>>389280535
As I've said, obligatory ones (the first time you jack a officer and a codex) will always hit.
>>
>>389275804

That sounds hilarious as fuck. Never had a sectopod firing on the fucking beacon myself but damn.
>>
>>389278704

Are you expecting like a brand new fucking game or something?
>>
>Its a "the lost in every fucking mission for 3 months" episode
>>
>>389250349
The cringey fucking Chosen dialogue is killing this game for me. I know this game isn't about the story but these fuckers just will not shut up, even when I'm in my base. I should at least be able to avoid this shit during gameplay; it's like a constant terrible cutscene that I can't skip.
>>
>>389281524
Then download a mod.
>>
>>389260020
If you have a reaper you can cheese almost every timer to shit since you can just send them ahead to the objective and wait for a good opening.
Not to mention the covert action you can give to the reapers which stops the timers from starting at all until you've been revealed.

Honestly, if the expansion did anything, it's make the missions themselves far too easy with the new class additions.

When do I unlock the propaganda stuff? When do I see any of the new shit at all?
I see that the armory got updated with the aliens heads hanging on the wall but beyond that, nothing. After the body fuel reveal mission?
>>
>>389282368
Are you using the WoTC launcher? When you boot up the game, you have to choose WoTC on the bottom left hand side, or else it just boots up Vanilla.

Is there any mod that enables booty shorts for all types of armor?
>>
>>389283140
Most likely.
>>
>>389258158
I think it's mostly because of voice acting. The expansion doubles if not triples the amount of dialogue. And they pulled in a bunch of star trek tng actors because Jake loves the show. It adds up. Plus they spent a lot of time and man hours making it.

And civ isn't selling well.
>>
>>389283140
LL Legs pack has some for women, they copy and pasted all pack items into all three armor tiers, only thing that sucks is it may double your load times
>>
>>389284093
>Chosen have different lines for shit talking X-Com units, Templars, Skirmishers, Reapers, and SPARKs.

I'll admit I like those little details.
>>
>>389284779
Also for other chosen weaponry.
>>
>>389257004
Agreed. I think a mod that changes/nerfs her post slash move would make more sense.
It'd also be better if that was her "pre-engagement" move like the Spectral Zombies and the Tracking Shot and not her main strategy
>>
>>389281254

This is the big thing, using cosmetic mods increases load times and can make the game hiccup or pause for a moment while it loads up the mods. Might not be an issue on an SSD but I don't have one yet.
>>
>>389251341
I really am surprised that Firaxis never implemented the mod that lets you have the timer start once you are revealed
>>
>>389285558
They did in the form of SITREP/resistance order.
